More than one person here did claim to have received the items and as far as I can tell those two people didn't know each other and both said they got the same items. Maybe they do know each other or maybe they have two screen names here......wouldn't surprise me.
One of the items does match up with my end location though.

I saw one person claim and a couple people confirm, but I think those confirmations were based on what they heard (or saw) from the first. Everything I have heard was included matches up with the items on the order form. This would give some credence to my charitable theory about the items coming from someone random who got the order and thought it was amusing. But I'm more inclined to think it was made up.

question: how come so many people on these boards have mentioned knowing or having an end location, yet no one has the gold yet?

I think you pretty much just summed up my thoughts every time I hear someone say that.

I stand utterly lost and useless, but pretty much skeptical of anyone who claims to be otherwise. I've tried both leads you mention, but haven't much to show for it.

Aren't we suppose to be following a birdie? I have found not one birdie on any of the train path lines that have been taken on here on this board. I have found all sorts of birdies flying. I am currently working on a different method.

Could it be possible that each puppet takes a totally different paths? Then they all go back 28 furlongs where they meet up. I have quite a few paths that do match up to the clues if we are to match them up the way people are claiming on here. To boot they are all in different areas. I think the problem with matching the clues to those paths is that you can pretty much take any train line in NY and they will match up with the clues, as I have found. This city is complicated and yet so many areas have commonalities.

Perhaps the Yellow and Orange are not train lines but are to be used in a totally different way?.

You are not the only one. Every time I do find a path or an area that matches up I find a totally different area & path that matches up. There has to be something that is unique in the videos that matches up to just one area. It has to be in all that decoding, the morse code. That morse code I believe is in every video. Like I wrote there are just too many areas with commonalities. The play on words and the play on visuals match up to a lot of different areas.

I really love the Time Square ones, that has to be my favorite.

I had given up one month, but have been so attached. I did drop any ideas I had and try to go at it from scratch, even tried to decode the comic, to no avail at all. My fear is that the forum may have hurt us? I think too many ideas led to too many wrong paths, and wrong methods of thought.

Some of our "final spots" were really final spots to an individuals path, which was created solely on their work, which doesn't mean it is right.

The colors on Larry King have to refer to the subway, it's too obvious if you ask me. We can't just negate a completly obvious clue, and I have gone back to it many times. However, could we be starting at the wrong spot? Why Columbus circle?

the forum probably did hurt us... brainstorming is a great tool to help people think differently and spark ideas, but the problem on here is that we take other people's ideas too seriously: "oh right, it could mean that, or that, or that, or that" until our heads explode with possibilities! I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but the key is simplicity, and I think forgetting about the hundreds of theories on this forum is a good first step. However, I think this forum was great for finding out what were the 'homages' in the series, a great example of collective knowledge!

As for where I'm at, I figured out a final location at the beginning of January. I will be going to NYC at the end of March, and I hope that nobody else figures it out before then. Whether I find the gold or not, I will post my full solution on here.

Anyway, I don't want to be the guy that sits on the forum going "I have an answer, so I'm just going to sit here and not contribute", I'll post some ideas to the Episode 6 thread Wink

I agree but the ones posted on here I don't think are it.

Please share I am looking forward to it. I think it is interesting to see how people think. I found another area that relates to the last video, but as you know I have to check all that talk coding.

tumblr

Not sure if there are any clues here yet (haven't had the time to look), but they keep updating their tumblr site:

Whew!
Man, it's been tough getting through all 261 pages of these posts...

ok, so I had watched the videos a few times, then decided to check this site out a few days ago... I came in to this thinking along the lines of Fort Greene. Specifically 4 possible locations of where this might be.
The first being actually up in the monument. This was quickly dismissed because of the 200 lb issue on what looks like kinda old stairs that couldn't hold 200 lbs of anything. Instead, assuming it's in that area, there might be an obvious marking that's able to be seen from the top.

The second thought was that it was in the crypt. Noone has come forward saying that they've checked it or that it's not open to the public, so part of me still thinks it might be in there.

The third possible location could be in the arsenal... where 2 of the bronze eagles are located.
The fourth is a random nonsense thought that it might be at the production company a block or 2 west of the park.

I'm not going to post reasoning behind thinking it's in one of those 4 locations, but instead will offer up some potential clues that haven't been talked about yet:

1. ok in the comic episode, they mention if someone follows them but stops at the next port, that would put them "right behind ye"... wouldn't that mean that if they're talking about a bus or subway line, you would be getting off right before a turnaround? maybe one that the next stop is like a block away or something?

just out of curiosity, what did we determine was the 8th clue?

since you have to get the commissioner's permission to dig in any parks, has anyone actually asked the commissioner if someone got permission to bury something in a certain park that your clues lead you to?

I've started noticing there's a few buried letters on the website itself. If you go to any of the sub-pages, You'll see 2 hidden I's. I don't know if there are any other hidden letters yet, but those 2 were pretty noticable.

Speaking of I's, what the heck is with the squid/octopus eyes on the site? anyone else notice that on the home page, 2 of the thingies look differently?

finally, I have another potential clue from the site itself, but I would need someone to help me get it cause my computer can't read japanese apparently. If you want the hint, please post it on here so I can get it out of my mind once you have it. It's probably not going to point you to a certain spot, but who knows.

Oh and before you go thinking that I'm gonna dig up the treasure myself if the clues point right, I live in Oregon, I've been to new york a couple of times when I was in high school and college, but I got new york out of my system. I'm really just here to point out a few things that either haven't been discussed yet, or possibly someone discussed them and then deleted them. If someone does find the treasure due to my hints, I would like to have them send me a picture of it and maybe 1 coin so I can make a memory thingy out of it.

Just wanted to point out also, in National Treasure, The treasure was technically buried, but really out of the whole hunt, how many times did they actually dig with shovels? << that was for the lurkers that just go out and dig at any random spot that someone's clue leads them to.

If you are referring to the subject of the e-mail to Tom, it's:
これが手掛かりはない。
which translates to
"This is not a clue"

possibility of word jumble from phone call "lottery" numbers

So I have no clue if this is a clue... ::rimshot in head:: hehe, but I was thinking about the lottery numbers being a word jumble. since there's no duplicated numbers, it makes it a bit harder to narrow down, but I did make a spreadsheet of all the possible combinations of letters to start messing with. Let me know if anyone's interested in that.

not me, but I did see a new interview which might inspire someone to get back into it

Some quotes I think are important (bolding is mine):
Quote:
Individuals are meant to watch the story, pick up the clues the pirates are laying down, and venture to some soft spot of earth somewhere in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, or The Bronx with shovels...

Quote:
If you watch the videos and enjoy the story that's unfolding, it should be glaringly obvious where the clues are.

Quote:
...the person that finds the treasure will have watched and enjoyed the entire series as a story…before sitting down with a thinking cap on, and pen and paper in their hands. I think people are so focused on finding every single clue in the beginning, that they are missing the big picture.
