Interesting tidbit of information. Cygnus, the constellation the guild spotted the red fluffy dots in, is the Latinized Hellenic (Greek) word for Swan. According to Wikipedia.
Yesterday http://www.newtonastronomers.com/ had an advert on the right side of the page, that was a quote from Full Metal jacket but replaced the word gun, with swan. Clicking it led you to the GL Bootcamp site.
Seems swan may be a recurring theme. No big reveals or anything, but I found it somewhat interesting.
Also now that I'm home here is the email I received just to have them all documented:
Quote:
Mr Pie-ro,
If I moved mountains every time some kids wrote to me saying they've seen something out of the ordinary, I'd be a laughing-stock in my field.
I'll say to you what I'm saying to everyone - if you have access to a telescope, make some observations of this so-called Cygnus anomaly and tell me what you see. If you don't, ask some friends who do.
Evidence is golden, and going from a single observation to pointing the Spitzer Space telescope at something is a big risk to take. I need to know more about what's up there.

Also if anyone has any questions about the Green Lantern mythos or anything Green Lantern related to this arg/viral feel free to ask me, I am a HUUUUGE Green lantern fan, and will be more then happy to talk.
Okay I'm done spamming this thread for a bit.

The ad for the video game on the Newtonastronomers site says:
"This is my Angry Swan. There are many like it but this one is mine."

I got my response from AW today, as well. I received the same response that REDSTORMLOJ got... I sent the form letter that was provided. I am wondering if people who got different responses wrote their own message? I am thinking there is a certain number of these responses set, but I do think it is interesting that they are taking the time to change them up a bit.
Looking at the bleedingcool site, I noticed this response...
"Pretty amazing project. Maybe Nick Risinger can help you guys, Ellie."
Anything on this Nick Risinger guy, other than in the Gizmodo article? I am wondering if he is part of the game or just one of those guys accidently "dragged in" due to a nice photo he took

it looks like the entire Space forum on bleeding cool has to do with this. The Final Front Ear thread even mentions that it's connected to an ARG.

My response from AW noted at the end that she is at "Belle Reve", which is a nice tie in to the whole DC Universe. Also, I wonder if she is going to be the tie between different movies, possibly leading up to a Justice League film in the future? (kind of like the SHIELD tie ins in the Marvel films leading to the Avengers movie)

I know I have been quiet about my posts lately.
Yes, I sent in a custom message to AW talking about seeing Green Meteors.
AW wrote me back right away with great interest asking for evidence/proof. I sent her a few pics in response. She again wrote me back wanting more information and attached a link to a youtube video. The odd part of the video has a web site attached! I saw there were other videos of green meteors without web sites that could have been sent instead. I think the web site is OOG but I'll let you check it out and decide if we have a RH.

Two new posts on Newton Astonomers Guild.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dear Tina and friends if you're reading. I didn't appreciate you taking the mick last night. I'm still picking earth out of my hair and the landlord doesn't want me back. I'm going to have to do a lot of groveling just to get into the Green Man and my mum is livid.
Is it really so strange that we might have discovered something amazing, even here in Newton? Just because you've never done anything extraordinary.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This is getting silly. We're out there every night taking observations at the limit of our instrumentation and we can't get anyone to listen.
The first one mentions getting into the Green Man. Did some googling and theres a couple differn't Green Man bars located in a place called Newton.

Brian, from the Newton Astronomers Guild, from here-on out referred to as N.A.G. since I don't want to type that out every time, is interacting on the bleeding cool forums with me here http://www.bleedingcool.com/forums/showthread.php?41435-Largest-True-Colour-Sky-Survey-Created
Looks like this is going be the primary place to communicate with the members of N.A.G.

That's clever. On bleedingcool forum Brian1980 has a join date of 10/6/2009 and 484 posts. However I can only find 2 or 3 on his posts. bleedingcool must be working with the PM on this and created fake stats for Brian. Clever.
I would even venture a guess that the Space forum was created specifically for this ARG. It appears to be created 5/4/11, and the locals were even wondering why it showed up.

I'm in, Also Hi I've sent my email to Waller. Dunno if I'll sign up to do this more regular like, love the idea but this place is intimidating. Even Lurking seems like it would be a full time job. That Slender Man Mythos Forum is a zoo.

I got my reply back from Waller it was the same as Redstormloj reply. Has anybody actually looked at Cygnus with a telescope? I doubt that we'll actually find a difference but that's what Waller keeps on asking us to do.

I dont own one but I did do a ton of googleing for cygnus and h-filter. NAG said the red dots were more visible with that filter. Theres a pic on nasas site if u search for it. It looks like red fluffy dots, but everything in the pic is red because of the filter.
