[EMAIL] From John Palmer (Oct 7)

I emailed John Palmer about the gravestone at CMH. Here is his reply.

Quote:
GB,

Yes, the man I have contacted is indeed named Charles, and although I did ask him whether he had any knowledge of unsolved murders in the area of Cambridge, I did not mention anything about the "i am invisible" note. In fact, I am only now starting to scratch the surface of all that "the seventh of seven" encompasses.

This gravestone of which you speak, just how "ancient" is the script? What about the stone itself? No bit of information is too small or too trivial, I file everything. I thank you for this most enlightening news, and I will certainly remember to inquire about it while I'm in Cambridge.

Good day.

J. Palmer

I wrote to him again with more information from the CMH website...

I emailed Palmer chewing him out for bothering an old guy like Charles and getting him involved in something dangerous. I also sent him the link to Jaime's website to see his reaction. He wrote back apologising but insistant that he needed Charles' help, and was skeptical about the dreadhouse site. Bit rich coming from the guy who says he's chasing a 170 year old killer.

Flidget,

I can wholeheartedly appreciate your concern for Charles. Unfortunately, I cannot possibly do or research the things I need to without him, he is a virtual plethora of information in regards to the physical area I am researching. If I find what I hope to, your concern may be well founded, but I promise you I will have his back if and when it's necessary. Friendship without self interest is one of the rare and beautiful things in life, he is lucky to count you among his.

The link you sent me was interesting, but Charles should be made aware of the unbelievable amount of nonsense which resides on the Internet, probably more hype than horror. I know I've run into my share.

Take Care.

Dear Mr Palmer,

I heard about your website from Charles, the old caretaker of Cambridge Mental Hospital. I've had only minimal contact with Charles, through emails, but I've grown fond of him. I'd like to ask you to rethink getting him involved, and if you still do, to at least please take care of him. He's got a lot on his mind right now and you're not the first one to come to him with alarming and violent stories.

The above website has also caused him a lot of anxiety. Charles is an old man who is having to deal with his own problems right now. If you do feel the need to drag him back out there to help you, please look after him and help him find his friend Tom. It's the least you could do for him in return.

Yours sincerely,

Flidget Jerome

My letter to him:

I've just discovered your very interesting web site. Living in the Bay Area, I'm quite familiar with the story of the Zodiac killer.

An observation: in your story you mention the blank signature with twelve underscores, and you speculate that it's "iaminvisible." That's absolutely possible, but another suggestion might be "thebutterfly."

Please keep me informed if you have any new discoveries. Your work is fascinating.

Well Mr. Max, that is quite an ingenious, and clever speculation you have made! I think, quite possibly, even better than my own, and your commentary and conjecture will always be welcome in my inbox.

Cheers.

J. Palmer

I love that Palmer is British enough to say "cheers" but American enough to insist that he has Charles' "back."

Smile
