[TRAILHEAD] The Osiris Project

Aaaaand I just got this:

Important mainly because of the words in the message.

Greetings, programs!

You're curious, I know, and we're curious about you, too. If curiosity compels you
onward, then contact Wordsworth. Wordsworth is the Curator of The Museum, a
repository of knowledge with roots stretching all the way back to the original
Library of Alexandria. He's worried that no one's watching the watchmen, and he's
turning against the Subtle Dangerous Ones. He has his reasons, and I have reason to
trust him...or, at least, I believe that his intentions are True. Contact Wordsworth
at WordsworthSPLATecho-null.com and you'll be in like Flynn!

It also contained the attached image.

NOTE: For TOS reasons I am now removing myself from further discussion.

Echo null, "greetings programs" and "in like Flynn" give me Tron vibes, and I've never even seen either Tron movie.

Still, I think I'll pile on.

My research on the background image for the site posted led me to a game (Not an ARG, per se.) called, "Osiris Sanction". The image posted, above is called a Vajra. The site background is the most elaborate version. The red version means it's an insecure location.
Quote:
This Vajra marks a location as
a part of the Osiris network,
but the red color denotes a
lack of security… there may be
other agents here, but watch

Not sure if I was supposed to find it, this way; But, the site is www.osirissanction.com.
The Vajra explanation is included in the Coyote's story
http://www.osirissanction.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/coyotes_story.pdf See Page number 14.
Currently, there are cells in Arlington, Va and New York. I was hoping for a Sacramento cell after seeing who started the thread. Maybe somewhere down the road, I hope. I hardly have time for a firstlife; So, a secondlife is out of the question
I hereby give permission to have this post updated by the Post-Gnomes.

Bump for new info (And because this is an effort that somebody has put a lot of time into. Some of the OOG info dates back to '07.)

One thing that seems a bit odd is the single forum with IG and OOG discussion areas.

I've had some email communication with Wordsworth:(Read up)

I am Rogi;

Our mutual acquaintance, Scaramouch would like to keep his head and asked that I contact you.
Your reticence may be simple caution... Or you may not be who you say you are.
I wonder what your response would be if I asked you for the recipe for Greek fire.. If you're the person Scaramouch says you are, then you should have no problem answering that question.

ETA: Check those spam filters if you're on Gmail. Both the initial email from Wordsworth and the initial welcome email from Fred Ivey ended up in my spam folder.

Interesting.

Registering... but being in Australia, I doubt I will get any Alpha or Theta action Sad

EDIT: Correspondence with Wordsworth

my initial mail wrote:
Hello Wordsworth,

You do not know me, but a friend of mine received some correspondence which said you may need help, and that you were trustworthy. For me, the word of a friend I trust is enough to act on, so unless you show me otherwise, you have my trust and whatever assistance you need.

My friend mentioned something about you being the Curator of "The Museum"; a repository of ancient knowledge. I believe knowledge, although powerful, is important to keep hold of - and keep safe from those who would misuse the power it represents.

Let me know what I may do to assist you.

Reesylou

His reply
wordsworthSPLATecho-null.com to me wrote:

Do you have fellow travellers? It is a perilous journey we embark on.

My response
Quote:

As with any individual, I do not exist in a vacuum. I do have a variety of fellow travellers. Several of them I would trust with my life - and I would expect some of these people to become fully involved if needed.

Others will be useful resources in certain situations, but not necessarily capable of dealing with the full truth. That is fine though, I know them well and know the capabilities and limitations of each. Conversely, they know and trust that I will not drag them deeper into anything than necessary.

I look forward to hearing more of the dilemma you are in.

Reesylou

And the latest reply - I have edited out the contact information, since the post to this forum was marked with a red Vajra. I know the Unfiction forum is generally super OOG, but given the nature of this one, perhaps the conversations should move to the Osiris Sanction site
wordsworthSPLATecho-null.com to me wrote:

We face an enemy that is so evil it doesn't even understand the word. I
have rebelled, and don't expect to survive that rebellion. Nevertheless, I
must pass my resources on to a few trusted souls to use in the fight.
These resources are unique and valuable, as knowledge always is.

You will be tested, always and constantly. You will be watched. Failure
will mean you are not yet trusted. Be careful...if we watch you, The
Subtle Dangerous Ones watch, too, and they will notice. Oh, yes, they will
notice, and it will go badly for you, but even worse for me. I trust my
continued existence to strangers that I am forced to trust....

We must move forward. I have an associate who will meet you. He sends this
message to you:

::message edited::

Look for the Vajra.

Yeah. I gotta admit, the RL aspects of this sound like a blast with the whole SWAT/urban laser tag aspect.
I've actually looked into building some of the stuff they've created for this game and I gotta say, somebody's put a lot of time, effort and likely, expense into this thing.
Sounds like they're willing to talk to folks, at length to promote the immersion; But, that's never really been my forte. Seems like hardly anybody's seen this game, yet. Or, if they have, they're not sharing their experiences on UF. There are only 9 people registered on the player forum.

THIS IS AN OUT OF GAME MESSAGE!

Hi, guys...just a note about protocol here. If you are sending messages to in-game beings (in this case Worsworth) you should do it through an email account with which you signed up for the game. Some personal information would be good there, too. We need this so we know, first, if you are a member, and second, so we can aim stuff directly at you down the road. Don't let appropriate in-game paranoia bleed over intoo the required outof-game functions.

Working as an identifiable team is a good idea, too, as it simplifies communication witth in-game resources. Discussion on the Forum is a good idea, too. The in game section is considered, in game terms, to be secure, so feel free to discuss things there that can't be discussed in the open, but instead laid out for your fellow coyotes to comment on. Sometimes a problem will be something that it may take a large group to solve. You are all on the same side, or should act as if you are

Out of Game discussions are open, too, and will help get the gameheaded in the right directio; not that the game is not going that direction now, but things may fractue quickly down the road.

=Ford

I also got the email reesylou got and wonder of we got the same strings.
Mine were:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
36A, 81A, 74A, 101D, 111D, 118D

Yesterday's regular Washington Post Crossword doesn't have clues that match the codes. There's a "Sunday Crossword" link that I can't get to from work.
http://crosswords.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/crosswords/sunday/front.htm
Could somebody look to see if the clues are available in whatever comes up in that link?

I got that one too, but still cannot actually post on the forum.

I got the same clues and checked the Sunday xword. The first clue exists only as a down clue but the rest exist. Am on my phone atm so will post the words later. However, I sent a message back to Wordsworth saying his associate may want to check the clues and got a reply saying "be careful of the assumptions you make"

While we may be on the wrong track. I do see that the May 1st crossword does have all 6 clues available:
36A = TIMETRAVELERS
81A = NIGHTCOMERS
74A = AGORAE
101D = BIERCE
111D = YODA
118D = IOS
There's nothing worth wasting a spoiler tag on, there.

Great, I couldn't get to the historical crosswords, it gave an error. There must be a relevance to the order, otherwise there would be no reason to put 81 and 74 that way.

On site forums are now set up with proper permissions

Ah, blast -- if there's a lot of travel or location-based elements involved here, I may have to count myself only a casual observer.

Libraries, depositories of ancient knowledge and Flynn all make me think of the Librarian.

Thought that's probably just co-incidental.

Pretty cool artwork on www.echo-null.com

Can anyone read the writing around the perimeter?
