What's random about this thread? I searched every page for a "Who is TTA?" thread, and finding none, suggested that one be made.

I think that this is an issue far more over-reaching than general posts in the Season 2 General thread.

God forbid we take a discussion about totheark's identity somewhere other than a thread on the latest entry!

As users of unforum, we should all strive to keep discussions as far off-topic as possible, and the best way to enjoy this is to keep bitching about people making new threads.


Hey how about we ditch the separate threads for entries and just have a huge clusterfuck of a thread? It'd be SO much easier with one thread for all our questions, theories, observations and brickshitting! Right? Right?

I voted that it is most likely Tim, for these reasons:

Pros:
In the Signal video totheark says "Come back. Find me." followed by J going back to the house and finding Tim, essentially making totheark call Tim "me".
totheark and Tim also frequent the same locations, such as the house.
totheark's knowlege of J secretly filming himself while he slept came at the same point in time that J's security footage picked up the only unusual occurence since he had begun filming himself, that being Tim peeking in through his window, entering his room, and inspecting the camera.
Tim features in more than one totheark video, in front of a stationary camera.
Tim's abnormal behavior began during the filming process of the Marble Hornets movie, as we see during clips of rehearsals Tim is coughing a lot and acting strangely. This combined with the masked person seen on Alex's "help me" tape could be taken to imply that Tim was donning the mask even that far back, which would explain why he filmed J getting tapes from Alex's car and somehow procurred footage and audio from the production.
J has said that he suspects totheark is the man in the mask, which could be taken as a plot device telling us to be the case.
Furthermore, totheark's year-long silence coinciding with J's would be explained by he, Alex, and J becoming more agressive in what is basically their hunts for each other.

Cons:
Tim had his leg smashed in entry 35, supposedly breaking it. This makes it less likely that he is the figure seen filming J in entry 39, who is most likely totheark.

Obviously he ain't the only candidate, so I'll talk about them next:
Alex could also be totheark.
Pros:
He filmed everything, so he'd have access to the footage and audio of the 06 footage that totheark had access to.
He also knows about Brian's house and its unique properties, as he's been to the boiler room and exhibited other paranormal occurrences there.
Would also have a personal stake in anything that might potentially stop the Operator.
Motives unclear, has behaved strangely since reuniting with J.

Cons:
He went to such great lengths to escape the situation he was in that it is unlikely he would so quickly and easily return to it.
It is also unlikely that he would communicate with J in such cryptic ways, then send him a fairly blunt clue to his whereabouts, then seven months later resume his cryptic methods again.
We have some idea of what he was doing during the events of season 1, living a seemingly normal life. His reaction to his girlfriend's finding a camera also implies that he has avoided cameras during this time, making it less likely that he would be the one filming J coughing in the house, not to mention all the other things totheark filmed.

Brian
Pros: The house with all the paranormal activities is stated to be his.
His whereabouts are unknown.
One of the totheark videos featured his face exclusively, seemingly assigning some sort of importance to him.

Cons: No further exposure to the events that plagued Alex, Seth, and Tim is seen on any of the footage.
He is unaccounted for in the story, and we've seen no further attempts to make contact with him beyond J's first visit to his house.

Seth
Pros:
Alex's cameraman, would be likely to have the most access to the footage totheark used in some of his entries.
Was seemingly dragged away by the Operator and is presently unaccounted for.

Cons:
Very brief appearance in the story, assigned no real importance in the narrative.
Writer has apparently stated he was just an extra.

Jessica
Pros:
No memory of how she got the hotel
Familiar with J
Has dreams seemingly about the Operator
Causes audio and visual distortion during some of her interactions with J
Behaves strangely at night
Vanished shortly before totheark resumed posting videos.
Had the combination to J's safe in her room.

Cons:
No known relationship to the main characters
No perceived involvement in the summer 06 incident
No known attempts by J to find her. (an OOG plot reason)

Geneaux, I believe that is the best possible summation of the pros and cons for TTA's identity that I've ever read. And it pretty much sums up my feelings on the whole thing as well.

You might consider adding that Brian is 'missing', since that's why Jay went to his house to start with.

This is out on a limb, to be honest, but I am of the opinion that the youtube account totheark could represent a consortium of people, of which Tim is a member. My reasoning for this is that I believe I have seen enough of Tim associated with totheark's videos to believe that he is involved with the account, yet at the same time, I don't think it was him that filmed Jay in entry 39, though I could easily be wrong. Also, in entry ######, Tim says, "we" will wait for you no more. Though this last point assumes that Tim is indeed involved with the totheark account.

I think that a lot of the arguing about totheark's identity boils down to the fact that people are assuming that it could only be one person, an assumption which I don't think is completely set in stone.

Geneaux, you appear to really have a bit of a bias for it being Tim considering you only gave one con for him despite all the other cons people bring up when you go on another TIm tangent.
