Sure it's the dining room? Dinner was definitely mentioned in the passage. I didn't see cellar or library though.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The library was definitely mentioned by Scarlett in the first box or whatever. Was the cellar part of the original rooms, though?

Library was definitely mentioned. Not sure if dinner counts for "dining room," and the cellar is one of the rooms that can't be where the murder occurs in Clue. It's where the solution envelope lies.

I don't get it.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Mrs. Peacock has the same name in UK and US versions. Same with the dining room. I only see the knife/dagger difference but they both don't work.

Re: recursion puzzle
help

No, i haven't gotten any boxes yet. I feel so dumb. I've managed to solve every other theorem with no problem but this is just really stumping me. Are these even the correct letters you end up with for the first one?

GEESETKSGUNE

waaa please help.

Have you gotten any boxes? Or are you trying to figure out what the boxes refer to? If you haven't gotten any of the boxes, Red Dog's post gets you as close as possible without giving you the answer.

I've read all the clues you guys have given in reference to the recursion puzzle and still can't get anywhere. Is there are starting letter you can give me please? Been stumped on this for days and it's doing my head in

thanks in advance

Regarding the Recursive puzzle, I feel rather dense Embarassed , as I've indexed just about everything I can in the first box with the cartesian grid (recursive adj against see recursive, going straight across using each letter for each axis, etc..) and I'm coming up with nothing. What am I missing?

Cartesian grid (x, y pairs); the definition box is your starting point; don't overcomplicate how you use it - take the letters as they come...

this does not work gaaaah >.<

I take it back. it works. only you need to divide the thing into small things, just like all those hints said.

Exactly. In retrospect, the one hint that said something to the effect of "simply go straight" was probably the most helpful, but I was misunderstanding WHERE that applied!

It is difficult, at this point, to give you any more without outright solving it for you. The suggestion that the grid may not line up right is valid; you should see a grid where the bottom-most row and left-most column are highlighted.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Use those as your guide, and literally walk through the definition of recursive, creating x,y pairs as you go. Do not try to do anything fancy with the letters to get your pairs!

No. It's a word with a meaning.

Any tips on the new seal? I re-browsed everything that's on the site, no seal.

Did you notice anything when you 're-browsed'? Things change when you re-browse. Remember the seal is called The Seal Browser. Huge hint right there.

Hope that helps.

Any other tips on the recursion puzzle?

Cool, thanks! I can't imagine how I noticed the change, but after that it was too easy Very Happy

Recursion: how did you get that GEESET thing at all?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Once you realize you need a bunch of (x; y) coordinates, it's only a matter of picking them right, and the right way to pick them is... left to right.

That should be it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The name of the puzzle has the format of the answer. You've got the right Who/Where/What (knife).

I was pleased and disappointed with this weeks puzzle. It was fairly simple for me but I really enjoyed the theme, however I kept getting hung up on that damn weapon and it didn't occur to me to change the word until after I wasted so much time re enterin the answer, thinking I spelled something wrong. Growing up, we always used the same word it seems most here used.

WHO in the WHERE with the WHAT

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
One thing that had me stuck: You DO have to put the "in the" and "with the" in the answer. I was just putting it in the answer as PERSON ROOM WEAPON but it needs to be formatted as PERSON in the ROOM with the WEAPON.

I don't see any differences Sad. I've been cruising the site on and off all day. Is this something that would have changed between my first and second visit today or something that changes on every visit?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There's a slight difference between some of the seals. These differences don't change. Look towards the border of your browser.
