I don't know Evan sounds pretty pissed. Maybe we should let him cool off for a bit?

This may give you all a bit too much insight into why I am single yet again, but I find that sometimes pressing the issue when the heat is on emotionally is the only way to make headway. What particularly draws my eye is his saying that we've made his friends think he's crazy. That's never happened before; they've always staunchly been behind Evan.

And we want them behind Evan, because this is not Evan. But maybe if we act now we can make them understand a bit, and help him and them. Looking at it again, he sounds as distraught as he does angry.

I'm a bad person because Evan's response made me laugh.

Edited because I agree with qaqa: turn up the heat! Send him a note that as far we're concerned, he is not the problem. It's what he does while he's asleep that's the problem. And also make a point that from our point of view, they are all compromised, and that the only reason he's being singled out is because we have evidence of him going after Jeff with a meat cleaver.

If he doesn't like that, too bad. And I'd better not see him come crying to us for sympathy when he wakes up with Steph's severed head in his heads.

I'm probably the only one, but I think we should poke him with a stick and piss him off hard enough to make him show his bad HABITs.

Then again, I'm always up for a good freak out. I say shake the tree of crazy, lets see what knife wielding possessed psychopath falls out but I'm new to this and not in contact with the boys so it's up to you all.

I guess you guys are right. If we don't try, we don't know. Maybe I'll finally write something to the guys.

It made me laugh too but in an uncomfortable sort of way

I'd make the bad cop reply per JustAQ's suggestion, but they have never replied to me and I doubt they would start now. But if anyone would like to take a stab at it, I volunteer my services in drafting the letter. I think we need to stir things up.

I'll take you up on that offer. I don't mind seeming like a bad guy, I guess.

Honestly, with as distraught as he sounds - trapped, accused, perhaps now suspected by the others - I do worry he'll only withdraw into himself if he's totally battered by people with accusations. I'm going to try to catch more flies with honey here, so to speak. If that doesn't work, then I say use the bad cop approach as a blunderbuss (again, some more). But at the same time I don't have a say - do whatcha want.

Or we can't do anything here and it was just a character beat, but hey, worth a shot.

GOOD COP IS GO

Quote:
Evan- Believe it or not, I'm just glad you're all alright, and that especially includes you. We have all been incredibly worried about you.

I don't think you would ever hurt your friends, and if they were to ask me separately I'd tell them all the same thing. Because I don't think this is about you, and I do NOT think you're crazy, and let me tell you what I mean. We've all seen what you've been through, we know what matters to you and that you would defend your friends to the death. I don't know who used that account. What I do know, and you know it too, is that there's time that all of you can't account for. Remember what happened with the hidden videos?

And it's not just you, Evan. Because that's not the only scene we've witnessed that you guys can't remember - remember the stuff from Baldpate that showed up on your account? Showing you, Jeff and Alex walking up there near a big tree, apparently around the time you guys went into the crawlspace? Jeff told us none of you guys can remember that, but you CAN see the video so you know somehow it happened. These are things you have all said and done that you can't remember, because that fucker is trying to use you and hurt you. You are not the problem here. None of you are. But something is fucking with you. It's never been you.

I understand you're angry. I could never blame you. If I was you I'd be angry too. And I can't imagine how frustrating it is hearing people talk about stuff you either can't see or have no reason to think is true, but we've tried before and we weren't lying then, and I'm not lying now, and I'm not saying it to make your friends mistrust you because that is the last thing I want - you have GOT to stick together - and I'm not saying it to hurt you and I'm not saying it to troll you. I'm saying it because honestly, all I want to do is make it stop and help you get your lives back.

I know you want that too. I know you're scared, I know you're confused, I know you never know what is coming next or from what direction. I know it's hell. I know you would never hurt Steph. And if you're angry with me, that's fine and I understand that. But I'm only saying these things because this is something more than human that is after you and the only way to fight it is to think out of the box. Don't let it get one over you by thinking something is impossible.

I don't know if any of this will register with you, but I hope you believe me when I say I only want you to be okay and I do trust your word. Please take care.

I'm actually really shocked at how upset Evan's response was.
I'm really hoping this does not negatively effect our correspondence with the crew as a whole.
I know this was mentioned above but it is too important to just let fall by the way side.
Have we really put suspicion of Evan in to Jeff and Vince?
Because as a group we have made an effort to do so.
Ev makes it seems as if they have confronted him on the subject and it makes me feel kinda shitty....

But, I know the people need answers (i know i need them) and qaqa you have really taken one for the team with this one.
I think your "good cop" letter is fantastic and applaud your knack for emotional buffering but, Evan sounded mad.

heres to the next vid hopefully not being a stern talking to from Jeff.

Oh yeah. He mad. But that's okay by me if it means we make some headway. And honestly, he sounds tired and scared to me too. I don't blame him.

I don't think it will poison the guys to all of us, nor did the original note to Jeff make any assertion about Evan being dangerous. So either Evan picked up on our concerns here or something went down between the guys, or both. The important thing now, I think, is to short-circuit any tension between them that may exist and try to help them as per this HABIT issue. I don't think we've tried to make them suspect Evan so much as make them aware of everything's that's been going down.

I think what stuck out to me from Evan's rant more than the rant itself was the fact that HE (seemingly) believes it was Jeff who hacked into Steph's tubmlr.

I am beginning to doubt that they truly are protecting one another at this point, and that paranoia is setting in....meaning Slendy is a happy panda.

Hey hey now, Evan is totally deserving of suspicion. As much as I believe he is the only responsible adult in the whole bunch, he's also obviously highly unstable. I think it's completely prudent that Jeff and Vince finally step back and say "Hmm, maybe this erratic behavior is indicative of a major malfunction and maybe we should keep a close eye on this,". I can understand how he's feeling persecuted, but the fact that he can't step back and see that he may be acting in an erratic fashion just verifies that he needs to be watched closely for signs of a major psychotic episode.

I can't, however, be surprised it's taken this long, as Jeff has let his little brother sink into major psychosis without consulting a doctor. Why would anyone be paying attention to a guy who plays with knives, has a habit of reacting poorly, and has a history of going batshit insane with no warning? It's completely reasonable to leave a young girl alone with him for large stretches of time and expect him not to hurt her. Especially when it's obvious that they are getting quite tight. No chance of a lovers quarrel turning out deadly. Not at all.

MAN UP BOYS! I'm hoping they grow some balls and put Evan in a padded room.
