It baffles me why you want to make slendy mainstream anyway.

Do you want a big movie company to find out about him and come up with a huge production that would basically kill the original spirit of vlogs? You know hollywood can't do anything right.

Go cry more hipster. If Hollywood "finds out" about Slenderman, they can ruin him all they want. All that will do is siphon away all the people who are already saying "this series sucks!"

So, nothing at all.

Hipster? Seriously? Slenderman is the ONLY thing regarded as non-mainstream that I am in to. Is it so bad that I think having these individual series each with their own characters and settings is better than one definitive movie that has a slight possibility of just being another cliche horror film?

I don't know. Do you deal in theories that have no respectable chance to become real?

That's not a problem of bad editing, that's a problem of you not taking you Ritalin. I don't even give enough of a shit to work on this page and you're already proving me right that we shouldn't have it.
You have a toxic personality. I don't like you.

It's a goddamn wikipedia article. If you don't like it, improve it. If you don't think it belongs on Wikipedia, vote to delete it. Don't resort to childish attacks. Regardless of whether you think it belongs or not, Phenom put a lot of work into something he feels is notable enough to belong on Wikipedia...and that is commendable, really.

Now stop with the childish drama.

Anyways, I find the mention of a Hollywood movie stealing Slenderman particularly paranoiac and solipsistic. It reminds me of all the forums I've been to where people were positive that either Stephen Colbert or one of his writers is a secret poster. People figure that the "big times" are of the same mind of them. The chances of a Hollywood studio "stealing" Slender Man is just...very very unlikely. It just isn't marketable. The vlogs have created great stories with him, but the only interesting unique idea are his stalking, paranoia-causing tendencies. His other attributes...his slenderness, his suit-wearing, etc, are not particularly important, and studios, if they were to steal him, wouldn't keep those aspects because it'd be too obvious they stole him.

And even if they did "steal" him, I fail to see how that would reverse the great work of the vlogs. Why would they? If anything, it would be a good thing, because it would greatly increase Slenderdom, and the creators of the vlogs would get more viewers, etc...

I agree with his assessment and hope that you simply forgot to add a winky face to indicate that this was only a joke.

Seriously, guys, you're making my head hurt.

Let's all just stop talking about whether or not the wiki article has merit. If you don't like it, start an AfD complaint and I'll throw my full weight behind the article. Settle it that way, and drop it here.

If we're going to talk about this at all? Let's just talk about how to improve the article.

And sje, I agree with your post for the most part, but I have to say that I do think a major-label Slenderman movie would be terrible.

Yes, so first thing, what images of Slendy should we put on the article?

I would advise you not poke the site admin.

And I shouldn't have had to say that.

@Phenom: I'm waiting on an email. I have a plan.

They're already making a slenderman movie, you're too late.

Anyways, remove the trivia section entirely, they're not allowed on wikipedia.

I can't seem to find an example at present, but I know I've seen trivia sections before. Anyway, I had titled it "In Popular Culture" for lack of a better term, because it deals with how the community has reacted to Slenderman. But /someone/ *coughSolDLcough* retitled it.

ETA: Yeah, I checked into WP:TRIV and the section is fine.

Nope, wasn't me. I did add the awkward tag, though: It's not written in a particularly professional manner, and I'm not entirely sure how you can make a memetic device that silly seem at all legitimate in a semi-serious article.

And your definition of "In Popular Culture" clashes quite considerably with mine: Something more like an "In Popular Culture" section would be if you were to bring up The Silence from Dr. Who which I've heard so very much about and cited it as displaying several attributes of Slender Man. Which I could accept, though it'd be much better if there was a scholar making the comparison first: No original research on Wiki. I refute anyone who says that the 20 Dollarz meme is there for anything other than a wish to tell the masses about the cute little shit that we as a community get up to, it has no integral purpose, or indeed, relevance, to Slender Man as a character. That Cat Planet shit is just as worthless. If not moreso.

EDIT: Okay, seriously; 'Some fans say' does not make this look like a good, professional article. It makes it look like an article written by some fans.

I can also accept you saying 'if you don't like it, change it yourself' Phenom. But the amount that I don't like would just involve me cutting huge swathes of uncited text and impartial voice. The article would pretty much just say "Slender Man is a fictional cosmic horror/memetic device created on the internet. [1] "

If you are giving me permission, though, I'd gladly go ahead and do that. But really, I'd prefer to give you folks a chance to actually back up the stuff you're saying with news articles and the like.

TL;DR:

...academically.

Yeah, Slick corrected me on that score. My bad. And I agree. I neither wrote nor copyedited that section. I honestly haven't done much copyediting, that's something I was going to get started with when most of the intended content was present.

You'll note that I added citation needed tags where they were appropriate. And as much as I hate to say it, the $20 dollars crap (which I hate with a fiery passion) is relevant. You search "Slender Man" on Youtube and there's a $20 dollars video on the first page. It's the most prevalent Slenderman-related occurrence other than actual SM videos.

Hence the "weasel words" tag. I'll fix it in time.

Forgive me for being a bit sarcastic and bitter, but who elected you Arbiter of All That Is Appropriate For Wikipedia? /Especially/ on this? You'd rather delete 90% of an article instead of, you know, making it better? Like I said earlier, if you want it gone, start an AfD. Otherwise, constructive criticism only, please.
