"In the poem, Sir Gawain accepts a challenge from a mysterious warrior who is completely green, from his clothes and hair to his beard and skin, save for his red eyes. "

Sounds like a GL to me

Earlier this week, I wrote a letter to Dr. Waller from my second email address, and got a response today... I tried to make more specific DC references in the letter to see how the letter was tailored...

Though I understand that this may be an irregular request, Dr. Waller, I am hoping that I can write in support of some of the odd observations that have been reported by the Newton Astronomers Guild. I know that there are so many other needs that need to be faced, and that Dr. Knight is very busy, but he seems to have a unique perspective on astrophysics that I think would be valuable when trying to understand these strange new phenomena around Cygnus. Though the group sounds young, I believe that their findings are sound and, with a little help from you, would be valuable in advancing science, and our government.
Thank you for your consideration,
Kevin

Here's what I got in response...

Kev,

I have spoke in depth with Dr. Knight about the anomaly. He leans in favour of a closer look, however he is also a realist. As far as the Cygnus Anomaly is concerned, I have to tell you what I am telling many people. There is not current evidence enough to warrant the emergency redirecting of a multi-million dollar telescope.

Perhaps if interest persists and new reports come in, that situation may change.

Keep reading the blog for more,

AW"
I enjoyed the casual "Kev" at the beginning... Still, only requests for more evidence in the response, though, so I am wondering what kind of stuff will be showing up in the (hopefully) near future... I am hoping that they bring in quite a few ties to the DC history in this (Starman/Ted Knight and maybe some of the other golden age names)... great stuff.

We know it takes place in the DC Universe since shes at Belle Reeve, and in her latest post mentions Astrange and teleportation to another world, which is referring to Adam Strange.

What Im wondering is if it's set in the current settings of the comics right now, or back when everyone was first discovering about the extra-normal individuals.

I'm assuming the latter since the GL movie is an origins story, but ya never know.

That's what I was thinking. When his head got chopped off it could have been a construct of himself.

It was I who brought the green meteor in early with my first message to Amanda. We were all unfamiliar of the direction that first day and I am only slightly knowing of the Green Lantern universe. So I had sent off this comment when I signed up.

As I was driving down the road I saw a green streak/ meteor through the sky. I have seen such things before but this time it was during the day.

I would love to help solve these kind of mysteries from space.

What can I do to help?

This was Amanda's response back to me.

Dear Greystone (Mr Greystone?)

That's a very interesting report - do you have any evidence to support it?

I sent her some pics I found on the internet and I suggested that she look for some video too. I received this e-mail back from her with the youtube link. I can not explain her denial about sending the link. I am not sure how my stab in the dark is playing in to this but I am looking at it as an accidental side track on her part while getting started. I would not be surprised if it was placed under consideration to be a part of this at one point. I have seen that happen before in other events.

Ah yes, and if you believe everything you see on youtube there is also this

That's interesting but not conclusive. Where and when exactly did you see one during the day?

New Testing link?

Doritos did Hotel 626 so I was snooping around their old campaign looking for any sign they were doing Grn Lantern and bingo... they are.

I have to get ready for work, so if this has already posted or is a dead end I apologize. I haven't had time to look.

2nd attempt. I'm in a hurry and wasn't paying attention and posted this is the wrong area. It's Fixed.

It was only the latest post on Bleeding Cool that made me Google this, so for those not in the know, THIS is likely the mysterious Ivo:

EDIT - OH and this article explains who Morrow is too, apparently he's building Tomorrow Woman or soon will be.

I entered my code from a small bag of doritos and unlocked a digital motion Green Lantern comic.

Reply from AW

Last week I used the Microsoft World Wide telescope and actually found some odd fuzzy red dots near Deneb. I took screenshots and pointed out the dots using photoshop. This is the reply I got back from Dr. Waller:

Quote:

James,
Your evidence is quite startling. I shall pass these images on to Ted for a closer, more thorough, look. I and my assistant Robert Fraser are still collecting data before making a final decision.
Keep watching the skies!
AW

Pretty cool. I think we're getting closer to something.

just got to emails
sorry for the double post

i know this one someone else received word for word

Andrew,
Your evidence is certainly startling and shall be reviewed further by myself and my assistant.
As far as the Cygnus Anomaly is concerned, there is still not current evidence enough to warrant the emergency redirecting of a multi-million dollar telescope.
Perhaps if interest persists and new reports come in, such as yours, that situation may change.Keep reading the blog for more,AW

and then she sent this

Andrew,
We are as yet unsure as to what is causing this anomaly and many theories abound. Myself and my assistant Robert Fraser are still collecting data from amateur astronomers such as yourself, before making our final decision.
I must admit to not having heard about this myth about multi-coloured power sources or this planet OA you've referenced. However Robert has a keen interest in myth and legends involving colour, I shall be sure to mention it to him.
Keep watching the skies!
AW

Sent an email earlier, as well, to Dr. Waller. Have not gotten a reply yet.

However, looking at her blog, a new post went up just recently.

Spending Capital

Well, you've been keeping me busy. Since writing about the plea from the Newton & District Astronomers and their request that I use my influence to get the Spitzer telescope to look in a certain direction. They basically want me to jump then to the top of a LONG list. I said "no" but they're getting a bunch of you to email me and try to convince me to change my mind. Some of you have taken interesting paths to do so.

You've been seriously backing up my mailbox so if you don't get a response right away, don't take offense. I do have a real world job I'm supposed to do. In the meantime, let's take a dip into the mails I have gotten so far.

Phillip Freeman writes: "I am curious about how possible it would be for you to help the Newton & District Astronomers Guild in their efforts to use the Spitzer telescope to photograph the area around Cygnus?"

As I said in my earlier blog, I might be able to do. I know people. To do it, however, I have to use some political capital I've accrued. In other words, call in favors. I have taken some time and effort to gather these. It's like a savings account at a bank. You get money and you put it in and it builds some lovely interest. You take OUT the money and spend it – well, it's not there any more, making interest, is it? That's okay if it's something that you really want but what people are asking me to do is to spend MY money on something THEY want.

Ask my children how often that works.

I'm careful with my money and I'm careful with my political capital. If it's something that I think it's worth spending either on, I'll do it. I'm not convinced yet. So, Phillip – yes, I could probably help – if I get convinced.

There have been other interesting e-pistles, including from one Otto Trombone-Morgenstern of the Trombone-Morgenstern Leisure Science Facility talking about family matters, some odd sounding inventions he is working on and expressing support for the N&DAC. Alex wrote a very lovely and poetic e-pistle about our planet as seen from space. I appreciate both missives, gentlemen, but that's support and not evidence. What I'm looking for is additional sightings or, barring that, evidence seen from alternative sources.

Finally, a few have also made vague threats about revealing my "secrets" to. . .somebody. Yes, John O, I'm looking at you. There's a famous story of the American playwright, George S. Kaufmann, who said of a particularly oblivious to reality theater star, "You've heard of living in a fool's paradise? Genevieve has a condo there." Some of you may be living in Genevieve's condo.

For the record, I don't know of any group called "Checkmate" or "The Suicide Squad". Honestly, what person in their right mind would join a group called the Suicide Squad? Furthermore, my history book doesn't have a "President Luthor" in it.

It's plain that those of you making threats don't really understand how to make a good threat. Let me help you. Most people I know say I know how to make a good threat and how to make my threats good.

To be a good threat, it has to be real. We all have secrets that we wouldn't want shared with the world, you included. You'd have to convince me that a) you knew something, b) you had credible proof, c) you had access to getting that proof to someone important; and d) reason to believe that I would not want that to happen.

It all ties back to credibility. How credible is the report from the N&DAG? How credible is a threat made to me? A threat, to be effective, has to be able to coerce me to do what the person making the threat wants me to do. Evidence is required in both situations. You have to make me believe in what you're saying to get me to take action. The problem with a threat is – if I take you seriously, how do you know I'll react to the threat in the way that you want? If I saw someone with a gun and I believed they meant me harm, I'd shoot them dead. No hesitation, no recrimination.

All in all, wouldn't it just be easier to find additional evidence for what the N&DAC claims they saw? If it's real, you should be able to help them back up the claims. If you do, I'll talk to my people. Remember, I really am on your side, I want there to be something to find. Give me a reason to do something.

And stay out of Genevieve's condo.

AW

I'm not sure what to make of the underlined words in her recent post.

The words "do", "Suicide", "my", "am", "want", and "reason" are underlined in the post.

Tracked down the Kaufmann quote & am unsure why a smarty like AW would misquote it or if that's significant. Dunno
