Water, fire, air, and dirt. Fuckin' Slenderman, how does he work?

I dunno, I feel like the knowledge of slenderman's existence is his weakness. It explains the memory loss as a way to cover the flaw, but discredits the "He doesn't exist unless you think about him" part of the mythos. Maybe he exists solely to snuff out knowledge of himself?

I laughed at this harder than it's socially acceptable to.

Maybe Slender Man is what Captain Planet becomes when you remove his Heart.

A weakness? Why, young boys of course.<Dodges>

But on a more serious note, observation seems to annoy his powers.

I don't think observation of his power would be his weakness... i think that just makes him even more pissed. And as for the "live to kill my own myth" theory, maybe Alex made the slender man myth, but someone stole his idea. So he created and actual slender man using the chemical X, and after killing so many posters, trying to erase his own mythos, he turned on Alex, the actual creator of him. So Alex books it, leaving Jay with the sole duty to not let those tapes get out. But he fucked up big time!

You mean Slendy is Captain Pollution?

It could be that observation of the Operator IS a weakness, of sorts. There's a not-unpopular theory that some of the Operator's shenanigans are because he's some sort of quantum creature and that's what allows him to move so quickly and appear to phase through closed doors and such. It would stand to reason, given that we never actually see him move above human speeds on-camera, but he certainly appears to be able to do so when not observed. That all would come together to mean that observing him forces him to adhere to the rules of physical reality as we know it, thus taking away some of his mad stalker skills.

Not a fatal weakness, to be sure, but certainly annoying to him!

Are there any actual examples of the Operator moving extremely fast off camera? I don't recall any, except for that time he was booking it past Alex in the playground.

Yep! There's an excellent example in Entry #10, the one where Alex is apparently running through the woods, looks up, sees the Operator some distance away in front of him, takes off in a different direction, looks up and sees the Operator again. It seems to imply the fella in question is moving at inhuman speeds.

Entry #26 is also a good example, he climbs to the second floor in just a few seconds, but is basically frozen as soon as the camera is on him.

Oh yeah! Can't believe I forgot those. Even when I just watched the whole first season over again on the DVD a month ago. Embarassed

Maybe we're looking at it wrong. Maybe water isn't the Operator's weakness, but his coming destruction?

Totheark has suggested floods (Deluge) and drowning (Broadcast), so as far as we know, the ark could be a literal ark. The Operator's goals may reach farther than just our known characters.

Knowing he works with Water, Fire, Trees(earth), maybe he's an elemental creature? All that's left is Air. But you know, he did blow that door closed in Admission...
That cannot be! The last airbender disappeared one hundred years ago!

Don't make confusing cross-references about movies! Besides, Avatar was a dumb movie anyway. Razz

The movie Avatar was not about the series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

First, as Zarggg said, Avatar was a different thing entirely. Second, the movie version of the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender was shit. I was referencing the television version. For it was good.
