cages

I'm going to write this and this may or may not be a spoiler. I'll treat as is and let you decide for yourselves. It's my theory on the monster and the cubes relevance to each other. We know that there is a large creature with schwartznegar legs that gets the kid in the store. That has already been addressed in a previous blog days ago.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I believe that the cages belong to the creature that is tied into the clips in the 79 range. The scenes where Joshs's dad is rolling some material around and there are missing clips. Hence they are the creatures in the box car in the train crash. The cubes may be the creatures food/fuel and the creature escaping and eating the cubes may be the cause of the whole insanity. That was why they were traveling together but in separate cars. The cubes are like the Food Of The Gods to the beast. It makes them electrical and crazy.

But again it's my wild guess.

That sounds like a pretty good guess to me. But what do you think the government was attempting to use the cubes for, besides what you said? It was the Cold War, so maybe they were studying the cubes to see if they could be used as fuel, possibly more powerful and efficient that atomic energy?

Operation Belt Trap may be a series of experiments on the subjects and the cubes. The "Belt Trap" in question my be the "barrage" in clips 40-41, and may be the main experiment which every other experiment revolved around. They might have hit the craft with a barrage of radiation or something.

There were Infos about nuclear testing in atmosphere. Maybe it can be combined.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I would say, they were making nuclear test in atmosphere, causing an "ufo" to land. The Cubes are an energy-source for the monster/ufo. Now they are trying to get those cubes to "work".

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
maybe, the high altitude nuclear experiments caused a passing prison ship to crash and it used the cubes as a holding cell for the prisoners (clovie lol)

I miss the old Super 8 ARG days when we came up with specified answers that actually got us somewhere rather than typing random guesses and cross our fingers, even if they are badly mistyped.

Clip #57 says "Breakthrough with the-" and the footage shows a cube being held over something with forceps. I'm guessing it's a breakthrough with discovering what triggers the properties of the cube, such as applying an electrical current, or heating it.

Alright, Clip #76 makes it obvious that the cages (or at the very least, Cage #3 were constructed to reproduce the most likely natural habitat. Now I want to know what that habitat was...

Minker senior is bio speologist - so it seems obvious that it leave in caves. And we can see him carrying rocks so those are probably used to decorate cage. And looks like creature is not an alien at all!

Apparently the gateway to belligerence.

Recreating the creature's natural habitat would mean that Minker Sr. was part of the team that captured it, if that's what they did. Two questions pop up in my mind when I think of this:

1. If this thing lives in caves, why would it be attracted to electricity, or steal electrical equipment to "put its ship back together," if that is indeed the case?

2. Is it possible that Minker Sr. was in direct contact with the creature and knew something about it that the others didn't, thus triggering his motives to kill/free it?

Minker Sr

Wink Wink Minker Sr. specialized in caves, I'm guessing rock structures, crystal formations, etc. The discovery of the cubes was questioning if they were natural occurring or man made. Or, Minker Sr was spelunking and found these things and turned them into the government out of curiosity. His services were kept because of his specialty and the remoteness of the items. Perhaps he found an abnormal creature that was tied into the cubes. Unless the cubes are eggs and they give birth to this being. Who knows. Maybe the cubes have a colony hierarchy. But not likely due to their shipping containers of boxes/crates.

Bottom line, who knows! This ARG has been speculative since it's inception. The best we can do is devour the few clues that have been thrown to us and extrapolate from there. Granted the clues have not really led to much more than advertising venues or purchase opportunities in the guise of a game. Nonetheless the fun has been in trying to make something out of a pile of poo. We would have never met the funny, quirky people we have met on this journey if it wasn't for this ARG. And, at this point, what does it matter? So Josh's girlfriend is now missing. Is captain Coop going to fly in and save her? Does the evil Kozmo have her? Is Kozmo the characterization of the Russians during the space race? Kozmonaut? Does any of this add up to anything? how old is Josh's dad anyway? Josh's dad was in FFSH, was that because the government put him there, was he there to hide or did the cubes make him crazy? Why not in all of this cryptic script have we not heard any tales or allusions to why Josh's dad took off with the devices. Maybe the numbers on the handle of the pictured object found in Scott Cave are the DEVICE code numbers?

Have I given you enough speculation to play with? Confused
