Just throwing it out there that Tim clearly has something up his sleeve he is using.

How come everyone thinks he teleported into Jay's room? Am I the only one who easily brushed it off as the camera's battery flickering on and off while Tim broke in?

To be completely honest--and maybe I just need to look at the videos again--I haven't understood where people get the idea of anyone in the series warping to different places. I always saw it as the clip abruptly changing into a different clip.

Well, as we know, technical difficulties are usually not so coincidental (especially given that he appears to know exactly when the battery is dead, as you never see him moving between positions), so either
A)He somehow has magical battery senses and/or has the Luck of the Irish
B)He can control distortion (not a normal thing)
C)He can teleport.

My thought was always that Masky doesn't control the electronic distortion - it just happens when he's around. I figure it's because of prolonged Slender exposure - he's been messed up by the Operator for so long that now he gives off his own little electrical field.

As for entering Jay's room, he warped in there using the door right? It doesn't take long to walk through a door, so it wouldn't take much for the distortion to miss his entrance.

Warping definitely happens. It's in Entry #23 at Brian's house. Jay goes through different doors on the second floor and winds up in the same room or on the other side of the hall, physically impossible things. Warping also happens in #24, as proved by Jay's security cameras in his apartment. He walks out his bedroom door and in suddenly not anywhere in his apartment. And then warping happens in #33 when Tim chases Jay out of the hotel. Instead of exiting into the hallway from Jay's and Jessica's rooms like they should have, they exited from the two next doors down the hall.

I watched Entry #23. There is no "warping" except when the tape makes an obvious cut. I saw this part where people seem to think that he teleported to a different room upstairs, but I can see that there was a cut in the footage. There was even a distortion noise. This happens again when he finds himself downstairs in the closet and again when he finds himself in the Entry #22 basement/bathhouse. It's more likely that he suffered from amnesia at that point and the footage was taken out and/or distorted. This has happened many times, demonstrated in the Return video and the Marble Hornets tapes themselves.

The footage from the security cameras was more likely tampered with, as this has been done before in Entry #19.

And I don't see how they are any further down the hall than they should have been in Entry #33. Nothing weird besides the distortion and Jessica's disappearance happened. You're projecting.

There is no explicit "warping" in the series, except possibly by the Operator. Possibly, because it isn't confirmed. But there is definitely no teleportation happening in any of the Entries you described.

I know I'm being anti-fun. But there's really nothing to support the teleporty theory. It obviously doesn't fit the tone of the series and it would actually cheapen its suspenseful nature. Because the whole point is to imply the paranormal, not just show it. No directly paranormal events have been witnessed besides some video distortion, a lot of memory loss, and a very very tall faceless guy sometimes showing up for the camera.

**headdesk** This debate has been had, over and over. If you really want to see the series as having no actual paranormal events (except for the obviously supernatural Operator), that's you're prerogative - everything is open to interpretation. But it's not projecting for me to say that there's warping, because the evidence is there. In #23, Jay opens doors several times and walks through to some place that door shouldn't have led, accompanied by distortion. You could say that the distortion is covering up a cut in the tape and amnesia on Jay's part as he moves to a different place in the house. But it could just as likely be distortion caused by moving through a wormhole full of the Operator's electrical interference - there's no way to disprove it.

The security camera footage could have been tampered with - but to what purpose? Specifically to make it look like Jay warped out of his apartment? Why? And there's no proof that the footage in #19 was tampered with. More likely, it was distortion caused by Masky's presence. He's caused distortion in other places as well, such as in #33.

As for warping in #33, I'm going to refer you to the Entry #33 thread. This was debated to death, and in the end, someone proved that the doors were different with extensive and detailed screen shots. If you'd like to read through it, teleporting/warping is first brought up on page 17 of the thread: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31419&start=240

And here is the detailed proof, on page 30: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31419&start=435 Look for Playmer's post with multiple links. After all that, the only thing left to debate is whether or not you're willing to chalk it up to an OOG mistake. And some people are, that's cool. But the existence of warping in the series is a valid and plausible theory.

Whatchu talkin bout, Willis? I've never noticed a single issue with the editing in MH.

And for a program like Sony Vegas that can get very finicky, he does an excellent job.

No, tampered with so he couldn't see what was happening (like the Return video).

Also, in general to your post: Okay. Maybe you're right. I mean if this theory has obvious and indisputable evidence, then it has to be right. There can't be any other explanation. Jay is teleporting into rooms that are like up to like thirty or forty feet away. For no shown reason. Fine. It's still completely retarded if it's true. TELEPORTING? WHY. I hope after the series there is word of Troy to prove this wrong.

Heh, sure has been a while since I had anything good to contribute. Razz Here I go, then...

I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet [if so, I do apologize. >->], but I have a theory on Masky's mask, if you'll allow me to jabber.

Anyway, I think that the main reason Masky wears his mask is because, if you have no face, The Operator can't find you. He has no face, is it not possible [incoming lunacy!] that The Operator is a face stealer? I mean.... come on, all we know that he does so far is stand around and invade one's personal space... >.> and cause mood swings and break into one's house and possibly cause bleeding and... hehe? >.>

Ahem, now, if Masky and TTA are one in the same, the mask is to protect himself, so that he may help Jay. [The bit in the hotel was to get Jay out of there. IMO, either Masky caused the distortion due to slendersickness, or The Operator was closing in.] I have no doubt in my mind that Masky is a bit nuts, and it probably comes with the territory. The codes and such are there for a similar reason that the mask is; to keep The Operator from finding Masky and or Jay, but instead of finding them, the codes are there to buy time, to keep The Operator from knowing what Jay has learned.

And if TTA and Masky are indeed not one in the same... well, I got nothin' for that one. ^^ I'll be quiet now.

Aww, you really think it's that dumb? I think it lends an even bigger creepyness factor to the series - unnatural things happened directly to our main character, even when he wasn't in the Operator's presence. Sorta drove home that Jay could never consider himself really safe. Even in hiding, they could still get to him. Which, to me, explains why he "really wasn't hard to find." (Assuming the theory is true and all.) I like it. Smile

Also! In the earlier entries it was just unsettling for Jay, but in #33 warping has actual storyline implications. Jessica went to her room to pack, and her door closed. Considering the door Jay eventually exited from wasn't Jessica's, he may not have been in Jessica's room at all - he may have walked straight through to the room three doors down. Jessica might have been in her room still packing while Masky chased Jay out of the hotel, wondering what the hell was taking him so long - not kidnapped or killed as some have speculated.

I'm sorry for completely derailing this thread. To bring it back to Masky - if warping did occur, my guess is that Masky activated the doors. I think it makes him a little more badass, and also explains how he's able to stalk Jay so well.

Ooh, that actually sounds kind of cool. No way to know if it's true, of course. But to throw out some (possibly weak) evidence I'd point to the close-up shots of the Operator in #40 with clearly discernible facial features. What's that about?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
OOG: I'm sure Troy and Joseph were well aware that we'd notice - I have a hard time believing it was just sloppy work on their part.
Going with this theory, maybe stealing enough faces is gaining him his own? [happy to join in the lunacy]

I'd already assumed that the mask offers protection from the Operator by hiding the wearer's face. So yeah, a face-stealing theory squares with that pretty well. Also, even if Masky is not TTA, the theory of him protecting Jay still works if he and TTA are allies.

*Edited to prevent double-post.

You know, whether the appearance of teleportation is due to bad editing or not (which I highly doubt), it's still in game and should be speculated on just as much as everything else.

I personally dislike the warping idea, because quite honestly, it takes out some of the "SHIT THIS COULD KIND OF ACTUALLY HAPPEN", in my mind. If it's confirmed later, cool, but I always saw it just as camera cuts and wonky editing.

That being said... I've seen multiple people say it, and every time, I've had to wonder: why do we think TTA is helpful, now? His videos in season 1 seem to be helpful, but then as time progresses they become a lot more sinister, even to the point where TTA says "enjoying seeing you suffer". How is that "good"?

The mask creating a non-face is interesting and it fits well for the most part. What bugs me though is that it's blacked out in certain places; the eyes, the lips. These form the triangle of emotion, the first places your eyes go to when reading facial expression. Why not leave it blank/white like the rest of the mask? It would look a lot more 'faceless.'

OOG though the white washed look probably looks the wrong kind of horrible and black lips are always sinister.

I'm guessing the masks have some use, since we've confirmed at least two people wear them (Masky and Skully). What that use is has yet to be determined, but I'm gonna guess we'll find out.

Skully:

- 5 seconds of screen time in what's about an hour of footage at this point
- seen only in the distorted video in entry #26
- not once acknowledged by Jay
- too grainy to see if it's even a mask
- less meaning than the doll in #18 and #23
- not relevant
