I'm wondering if you can hear someone sneaking up on you easier if they are on wooden floors instead of carpet Very Happy

That really depends on the quality of the carpet, and the quality of the wood flooring. Newer wood floors, and ones without gaps, tend to squeak less. Also, since most carpeting is over wooden flooring in houses anyway, it really shouldn't make that much of a different.

Unless Slenderman and/or the Observer wear shoes and not socks. In that case, wood flooring is far superior.

I've always imagined The Slender Man having shoes, but it's hard to really think of his footsteps making any sound. That was creepy enough in the Slender Suits documentary.

I suppose it also begs the question of whether or not Mr. Thin can just extend his tentacles into the house to get Noah without ever having to set foot on the wooden floor.

One presumes that the Observer could just remove his own shoes.

That would also imply he can take off his suit. And if there's anything that takes away the scary from our Tall friend it's imagining him naked.

I tend to think his suit is just a sort of attempt at camouflage and not actual clothes. Although apparently Mr. Rallus begs to differ.

Not Slenderman. The Observer.

That makes more sense.

This actually just sounds right. Sort of an imitate-what-you-last-ate kind of thing. I wonder what other images could be used instead of a business suit, like maybe a Law Enforcement uniform or even something religious like a priest's robes.
Just a thought.

This discussion reminds me of some (unanswered) Putnam Whipple-esque questions I sent to Noah's Formspring.

"Um, yes, I have questch. IF the SkinnyMans wear business suit, where do he go to work? Thank you."

"Also, I have questch. IF SkinnyMans is tall and wears suit, why you not just wait for him at big and tall store with shotgun? Thank you."

Anyone who listens to the Gamespy Debriefings or Nintendo Voice Chat podcasts should get the reference.

Christ, Void. SlenderCop? That's possibly the most frightening idea possible.

I've always pictured the suit as a basic camouflage job too, like he needed something simple he could replicate using his black and white... bits, whatever, and he figured it looked good. And I think a lot of other people thing something similar, because whenever you see a red tie slenderman people complain, because that implies first that it's an actual tie, then second that it's an actual suit, and thus thirdly that there's a physical creature underneath there that actually is fairly human shaped.

The thing about a cop or priest outfit is that those people tend to get noticed. They'e authority figures and fairly rare, so they stand out in a crowd and may draw attention. If we assume that Slender Man chooses an appearance based on camouflage, a suit is really the best option. Lots of people wear suits. It's his best chance to go undetected. Until he wants to be seen, of course.
