The WHOIS information for thedarkknightrises.com unfortunately does not match the WHOIS formula that 42e uses on all its in-game sites (Registrar: Godaddy / Registrant: Domains By Proxy), nor is the site hosted on their personal servers as the others are.

For example:
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/whysoserious.com
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/wrb.com
http://www.my-ip-neighbors.com/?domain=174.129.242.180

However, it does match thedarknight.com, obviously both the "official" sites created and hosted by Warner Brothers specifically for movie information.

http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/thedarkknight.com
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/thedarkknightrises.com

That, and 42e does have another game going on right now for Real Steel, World Robot Boxing. However, that movie comes out October 11th, and TDKR doesn't come out until July 20th, 2012. So there could be plenty of time for 42e to start the real shebang after that. Especially since, as players of the first Dark Knight campaign can tell you, a few argy happenings occurred in May, culminating in a release of the first picture of the Joker (sound familiar). Then a big push at Comic Con in July, then no more real game happenings until November. So, don't despair, but there's a chance we may be waiting for awhile!

Anyway, here's hoping!! Very Happy

In addition to your domain research, I noticed that the site is hosted on the same server as the Green Lantern sites (for Dr.Waller and the non-ARG viral flash game), so I'm thinking you'll not see anything more ARGish than that.

http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/thefirerises.com Way ahead of you. Same as the WB Official sites.... so maybe WB is running their own arg or having 4e do it through their channels? Curious.

Addendum:
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/ibelieveinharveydent.com
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com

So it actually still is following a similar pattern. Wasn't until a step into the viral that it went to godaddy registration. ibelieveinharveydent was registered by WB, and then 4e's godaddy had Ibelieveinharveydenttoo...

So this information is ambiguous, and up till this point the arg is following a similar pattern. Main site lead to ibelieveinharveydent teaser, guerrilla site led to ibelieveinharveydenttoo. Maybe the main site will lead us to thefirerises.com, and then we will start to see guerrilla sites.

morse code

ok - the first audio repeated part SEEMS to translate [imo] to: IM
then...?
the morse I hear is: .- .- .-- . - .- .-- or patterns thereof... [AAWETAW at moment...??!]

don't see any way this could make 'bane' but others? any other patter names from that assembly of morse?

reminded me also of the chanting we heard slightly with the first film with ra'l ghoul..

The one interpretation I've liked that I've heard of this so far is that it is the sound of a human heart pumping, but then seeing the beats as morse code makes sense too... but still doesn't make anything.

So, I guess it's safe to assume the TDKR viral is gonna officially called The Fire Rises? Either way, glad you guys are enjoying my thread?

Btw, surprised no one's commented on this:

http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=37739

Coincidence? I think not! Also, wouldn't be too surprised if there will be a viral event at SDCC the following week like with TDK....

What the heck is that dot in the background? Can anyone enhance the brightness of the pic or something, to see if we can find the source of it?

EDIT: ok so i ramped up the brightness and zoomed in to try and make it clearer (ive left in a bit of bane so you can see the scale its at roughly)

still looks slightly cats eye-ish to me any other ideas

Sadly, I've tried. I've also inverted the colors, applied numerous filters, and it just looks like nothing ID-able EXIF data yielded nothing of importance. It saddens me...

It's just some light sources.

Thanks for the info! I got some myself that points to the Bane reveal as being WB in-house, so that's just additional confirmation for my suspicions. But who knows what they might try later.

I'm hoping that it'll either be a social media non-ARG or a real ARG, not the lame in-between for Inception that petered out. Evil or Very Mad

So I am wondering about something. I know that this wont go along with the bane back story from the comics so much, but I think that nolan has shown that he is willing to take liberties with that stuff in order to make the movie better, but to me Bane's mask in the pic almost looks like a stylized insane asylum/hannibal lectur face mask. I am almost wondering if bane's story in the film might start out with him in some type of institution and this is a picture of him in said facility. Also as for the light in the pic what I am more curious about isn't the white circle as much as the red one up and to the right of it. I am almost wondering if it isn't a video camera and the red light is the reording light and the white one is the lens with some background light reflecting off of it.

p.s. I know that at the comic-con that kicked off the joker's arg there were things that required someone at the con and someone else at home on the net, if anyone here is going to comic-con I would love to be your contact on the net if something similar happens this year. so if anyone is going to the con send me a pm and I will be in touch so that if something goes down I can be in on it. With the dark knight arg I didn't think that thye would do anything in utah (where i live) so I didn't watch as closely as I could've and missed out on a couple of opportunities to participate and this time i don't intend to let that happen again. so if you are going to comic-con hit me up.

Deadshot?

The only thing I can imagine looking at the two dots is Deadshot. Earlier this year was said that Deadshot would be in the new Batman (link below). However the proportion is wrong, the red dot should be bigger than the other, so do not think it has something to do with.
