Hi there. All the latest Updates at the Newton Astronomers Guild, the AW blog & on the IG Forum are just amazing....

Won't spoil the initial WOW-ness except to mention a new IG site: http://spitzer.deo-br.com/

Wow, just got back from wandering about Disney World to find this... guess which I found more exciting Wink

Like the sound of the government being "grateful", too, I must say.

Question for those who have completed the task at the link:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Robert has posted at the forums about a tech error if "madam asks for your email". Assuming that our submissions are in fact scored in some way, and the A+ folks get this message. And apparently there's a coding problem with the submission of said email (whoops).

I didn't get one, though I was pretty tired when I tried to do the image annotations (do wish they'd been clearer about WHICH fuzzy red blobs they wanted...). Has anyone seen the message yet?

tee hee ^_^,
I think I might have been the one who told them about it..

anyways, I don't know the exact amounts you have to do it,
but I know that at certain checkpoints there are messages..
one of them points you to the real place where they stole the coding for the "game", another tells you to keep going to "get recognized by dr. waller", the last one that i've gotten so far was dr. waller herself asking for my name and email.. I sent mine in, but it didn't go through, so I shot her a personal email myself and she replied that there was a bug in the system.

Good on you, then! Wink There are some signs that in spite of working hard on it, they didn't have a lot of time to put this together, heh.

Bah so I just didn't keep going for long enough then. I think I was taking my "scientific responsibility" too seriously and spending ages on each image. I'll keep at it, thanks for your info!

comadarkvale Yeah it's a long gap between message 2 and 3 (w/the email). Wondered if it was "scored" and I was making mistakes, but I think it's just a test of patience. Razz

My email went through fine far as I can tell, they might have fixed it.

Wonder if anything else happens if you keep going, but I'm seeing fuzzy red dots everywhere as it is...

The "We were so right." post on http://www.newtonastronomers.com holds the clue to how many to do.
Quote:
if everyone classifies 6 or 20 or 50

After 6, the first message from Robert.
When you've done a total of 20, the next message.
Finally when you've done a total of 50 you get the email request from The Wall.

Adm_BlackCat Nice catch. Should've noticed that, hah. Thanks for poking Robert and reminding people on BC to classify images. Was thinking last night we need to keep prodding them a bit to make sure that they know we're interested and the ARG moves forward.

Minor update on Newton Astronomer's Guild this morning; just a tease regarding the movie, imo. Though heck yeah flying through deep space would rock. I think it's really nice that they linked us to a real project helping with data processing; as soon as this is over I'm hoping to give that a whirl. Space nerd.

FYI I did try continuing on "just in case"; not sure at what number my willpower broke down, but easily 75 and could well have been 100. Was interrupted and lost count. No further messages.

theguyWelcome Smile Hope it all pays off for you, as a longtime fan.

The powers of the ring are limited only by wearer's imagination and willpower Razz .

Razz It still has to be recharged every 24 hours! (also my dying video card was acting up. Yay for multicolored lines.)

Double post update at IG forums from Robert Frazer!

actually that's no longer the case, the ring still has to be recharged periodically, but it works more like modern devices (the more you use it, the more often you have to recharge it)

the ring seems to hold enough power for 24 hours of "typical" use (unless there's a blue lantern nearby, but that's a whole 'nother thing)
