Thanks, y'all; when Evan dies prematurely, I'm blaming you.

Totally wouldn't mind that. EverymanHYBRID is the best candidate for this idea; so many unnecessary characters. Now that I think it, didn't a girl die in the the video where they first saw the Rake?

You say unnecessary, I say unfounded assessment.

And I say shenanigans.

Aside from that, it's harder to have characters die in vlogs because depending on how close the character in question is to the story, you may have to /show/ the funeral and/or police investigation, both things that are difficult to do. Also, there's the fact that it's just much harder to show the death of a main character, because there's the possibility that they'll be around and involved with filming even after their "death"

Vlogs don't usually show someone getting killed on-screen. Most of the time they usually just find the body (see Dark Harvest).

EMH kind of did it when they
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
showed Vin getting owned in the storage unit.

Was a pretty cool "oh shit" moment, I must say.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Yeah, it was a nice "oh shit" moment, butt when you get down to it, how different was it from the stale-as-shit coughing episodes? Nothing new happened. It just reinforced the idea for me anyway that Slenderman's just trying to drum up business for his new line of expensive cough medicine.

I mean, I'll give the scene credit, it did get my head back into the game, but I still don't believe Slenderman's actually trying to flay the boys like he should be.

Where is it written that he should be doing that in every series? He clearly has more in store for the protagonists in MH/EMH/TT, to name a few, than just violent death. His plans for the EMH kids seem even more complex. So I don't follow that binary.

Sorry, personal preference. Twisted Evil

I'm still attached to the OG mythos where he strings people up in trees and flays 'em.

Amen to that.

Also, qaqa, it's not so much that he has to kill them, it's that there's really no sense of danger anymore. There's very much a feel that the vlogs are playing for lower stakes, since the heroes are rarely in any sort of real danger (at least, in those I've watched).
