I figured It's start running it. There's a Facebook page for the guy HERE. I'll be interested in playing.

Well, if this mentions Aperture Science, I'm in!

If you look at the wall on the FB page CarnageBlack linked to, his last couple of posts end with TINAG in parentheses. Now, I know what that stands for, and what it is. I'm just curious as to why he's putting it at the end of his posts. Perhaps he put that there so confused people (i.e. people who don't know what an ARG is) would google it and end up at Unfiction/other ARG related site?

Also, the person he lists as his business partner, James Bohon, if you go to his Facebook page, the guy has 168 friends! That's a long way to go for an ARG character, dontcha' think? My guess it that that is a real account for someone tied to the game (behind-the-curtain, that is), and they just changed their pic (and, possibly, name) to serve as a game character.

I'm not entirely sure about the other two friends, they seem pretty legit to me. Are they you two?

You can also follow the link at the top of Whitesides' profile to a page about New World Tec. However, the page is empty. Perhaps they plan to add to it later?

That, my friend, is called a hashbang. It's kind of like a comment line for URLs, anything after it is left solely to be interpreted by the page's javascript. Since Wix allows you to create Flash-based sites, it uses hashbangs to allow people to bookmark specific pages within the flash applet.

Not sure why that quote didn't work...

Anyway, I'm not entirely understanding the email text. What does he mean by "Skype terminal?" And why would you need a "guest account" to call and/or IM another user? Just use your own account. I'm confused... Perhaps the PM isn't a native English speaker?

I'm the one who sent the Tweet. I received a friend request from Guss Whitesides and started wondering about it. It sure seems like a trailhead, or maybe it's just somebody's fantasy Wink

I've been into ARGs for a while and I'm known for being into LARPs. We mentioned ARGs on an episode of Mid-Level Crisis (a LARP podcast I cohost) a while ago, so I'm sure that I got this because of that. That's me, Matt, as Guss's friend... the one with the bagpipes in the picture.

Doubt that it's related. The "in-game" "New World Tec" left out the last h. They likely did that to avoid just that kind of confusion.

Eventually got contacted by an actual human; Guss Whitesides. Applied for a gene-testing project they are running at the moment. Got a quite strange mail concerning my employment; it said that I would be escorted to a New World Tec. facility for further tests.

Got a call to my Skype-Account. I am forbidden to leave my house tomorrow; any movement will be registered; I'd risk my employment if I would not act as they say.

Quite confused, didn't think that this would happen so suddenly..

It's been a while since I've done an ARG but this one looks interesting.

I added the skype user from the facebook page and had the following conversation.

Not really sure if it's important but I noticed the System of a Down CD image on Guss Whitesides' wall and saw that the 6 in CD-36 was replaced by a 8 in red ink.

When googled the only thing I could find was a glycoprotein known as cd38 that often acts as a marker for HIV, Leukemias and other illnesses.
There didn't seem to be anything overly relevant but the CD-38 is still bugging me. I'll keep looking.
