Also, i read on aintitcool that the aliens lair is pretty rad. Could you possibly go into detail on what it's like?

I keep hearing bad things about the ending. Well, not bad things.....but i keep hearing how the ending doesn't quench your thirst like you want it to. I'm not asking for spoilers, but is this true? Does it kind of end in an abrupt fashion without fully explaining alot of things?

I enjoyed the ending. But for those of you who wish to read on...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I can understand from a monster movie fan, or from fans of the creature itself that the ending would be a tiny bit... for lack of a better description, anti-climactic. Once you realize there's a very clear goal for the creature, you can pretty much figure out how it's going to end. I was satisfied. I liked all of the characters and I wanted to see their stories resolve and they did very well...

Also... As for my thoughts on Cloverfield vs. Super 8:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Now that I've had some time to "stew" in my thoughts of Super 8, I think I still like Cloverfield better... Just because I'm a BIG monster movie fan, and I LOVED the ARG/backstory for Clovey. I loved the unique approach of how they shot Cloverfield, and the mystery surrounding the teaser more-so than any of Super 8's mysteries... And of course, I'm dying to see more Clovey, and Super 8 is kind of a "distraction" from getting back to the Cloverfield universe! But don't get me wrong, I LOVED Super 8 and will see it again opening day and will buy it on DAY 01 when it comes out on bluray. There's just something so special about Cloverfield that can't be denied, and probably can't/won't be replicated... Until the sequel! Smile

Not tooooooo much detail... But:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It is pretty rad. It's a bit scary too. There's definitely something funny going on down there... You'll love the kid with the braces in that scene! And it's down there that we get our first GREAT look at the alien and his awesome face!

Hope that's enough to whet your appetite!

I have a general question, Since I was Originally hoping for some type of ET type film. My young daughter (7) is wanting to see it. What are your thoughts on that. Normally I would not take her to a PG-13 film (she has see some) but I normally only take her to G rated fare.

She does have a REALLY GOOD, understanding of what is real and what is make believe. I feel in this way we have taught her well, but not destroyed the magic of make believe. - Score one for the parents (patting myself on back) Smile

What are you thoughts about how this would be for "Kids" or is it adult fare.

Thanks, And Thanks for the Glimpses with out spoiling the film.

If you tell me what's actually going on 'Down there', would it be a major spoiler and possibly ruin alot of the movie experience?

No problem!

I'd say it's kind of intense for a 7 year old. There is some rather violent things that happen, and there's a lot of "jump scares". If you're daughter is ok with that, and you're ok with her seeing young kids using some foul language on screen, then I think it should be ok...

and some spoilerish stuff:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There definitely are some intense moments, but they are kind of few and far between the story of the kids and their humorous banter coupled with the stuff with the military and the main character's dad. I jumped in my seat more than a few times, and found one particular scene a bit scary and intense even for me! And again, it is pretty violent at times.

Hope that info helps!

If I tell you exactly what's going on down there, it would definitely be a major spoiler and could ruin the experience... But let's just say others have discussed it here in the forum and have been pretty dead on correct. So that's all I'll give away there...

Awesome, can't wait.
Also, do they explain how they actually capture the alien? I mean, judging from it's size, and given the technology we had back then, it seems like it would be pretty difficult to capture, let alone keep it in captivity for decades.
Also, hearing about the actual size of the alien.... how did it fit inside that train car if it's THAT big. Is that explained as well. Once again, if you can go into a little detail, it would be appreciated

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'd say a little bit bigger than the Alien Queen. Definitely NOT Clovey sized.
