Even if this is for gum, im still in. I love when companies go a different route with their ads. Not the same ole hum drum tv spot or magazine ad.
Ive fallen in love with ARG's. Ever since I found unfiction and the flynn lives campaign Ive been hooked. I cant wait to see where they go with this.

I feel like such a veteran when I see stuff like this...but I'm such an amateur compared to so many..

Does anyone think they'll hide something on/in the limited design?

I'm going to grab some once they start showing up in stores.

I know a store that'll let me inspect the packs a bit. I'll have to go there when they are released.

Does it seem like the wasp is pointing to anyone else?

ginji, could you please scan the ad in a much higher resolution and maybe incude the page that sits beside it ? I'm intrigued by Startfruitt's message and I'd also like to look a bit closer at the wasp's design...

Edit : I read the thread again, Aesculapius said that the ads were in differents pages to the page number is insignificant. Plus the one in Seventeen mag (see below) is in front a some article about celebrities shoes...

i started this arg today and i gave it a look and noticed that on the 5gum website the url mentioned coachella 2011 which has passed so i think the whole wrigley gum thing are just the people paying for most of this and they just want to get their gum out along with whatever this could really be a part of?

This was in Seventeen magazine June-July issue
(no, I'm not reading teen girl mags, I just found the reference here

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The QR Code from the Seattle Weekly and Seventeen Magazine are not the same. First one decodes to http://www.testsubjectsneeded.com/unknown & the second to http://www.testsubjectsneeded.com/query
Those 2 adresses redirect to http://www.testsubjectsneeded.com/
We may need to find lots of ads in different magazines to check if the part after the slash means something...

I think I have a different ad in a SPIN magazine at home, but I'm not sure where the QR code goes. When I get off work I'll scan it and post it.

My assumption is that they're just using the redirects to track individual magazine performance in terms of actually driving people to the website. QR codes can track the number of people who click through, but unless you add an additional level of tracking code (or a different landing page, as seen here) I don't think you can see how that translates to actual site engagement / registration.
