My assumption is that they're just using the redirects to track individual magazine performance in terms of actually driving people to the website. QR codes can track the number of people who click through, but unless you add an additional level of tracking code (or a different landing page, as seen here) I don't think you can see how that translates to actual site engagement / registration.

Oh! Like to track which ads get the most popularity so they know what's good and what's not?

Smart!

I was wrong it seems. Mine doesn't have the QR code. It says, "Ever feel a thousand pianos strike the same chord?" and then has the Morse code and the wasp at the bottom. My scanner is being fussy at the moment but if anyone thinks it's worth capturing I'll take a picture and post it or beat my scanner into submission tomorrow.

If you could at least provide the translation of the morse code, maybe we could get a list of words, even though notgordian's explanation seems to be the most coherent.

Looks like it's just the domain name (testsubjectsneeded.com). This is the June 2011 issue, so I'm betting it's older than the other codes and stuff we're finding and is just pointing to the trailhead.

The morse code/skating on dry ice one popped up late May in DC comics along with the QR code on the Seattle Times. When was the June issue released

Just updating to say I have seen nothing new on this. Nothing in the mail yet, and no texts/emails, I've tried logging in to the site and nothing. I have seen a ton more ads for 5 Gum around the interwebz though. But I wonder if it isn't just because I've been going to a bunch of related sites and it is just predictive advertising. I'm assuming no one else has seen anything either considering the lack of updates here. Oh well, guess I will keep diligently stalking my mailbox Twisted Evil

"There was a woman handing out black envelopes to a number of us leaving E3 today. he envelope was sealed with a sticker that read "Confidential". When I opened it, inside was a transparent Lithograph with transparent slotted lines, and a double-sided 5x7 card with two coded images/messages. The first was the url to the website (testsubjectsneeded.com - which I googled hoping to find information and managed to find this page), the second image was an animating image of a wasp (as in the insect). Very strange, still no clue what it leads to."

I have a hunch, or perhaps it's more of a HOPE, that we'll be getting black envelopes in the mail as well. I mean, we did sign up for the Testsubjectsneeded thing initially.

That would be nice, but I don't think we'll get 'em. From what I read the envelopes were to get people to go to the Testsubjectsneeded website and sign up, which we already did.

I'm not sure. My friend gave it to me because it had Mumford and Sons on the cover and I'm a huge fan. *laugh* I'd guess mid-may though. Don't most magazines come out a few weeks before the month they "feature"?
