 		 I wonder?
i was just watching the editing room film and thinking what did they build cage #1 and #2 for? i have a feeling its for some other monster but i could be wrong, but what if this opens a world for other stories to be made? How cool would that be.

The first 2 cages are for folks like us who have gone nuts trying to figure this arg/movie out.

Seriously, you raise a good question. Why 3 cages ? How were the first two set up??

According to the Super 8 comic book, the construction happened before they downed the alien ship. Perhaps they didn't know how many aliens they were dealing with or what size to expect. Multiple cages to deal with whatever they came up with.

The few things i know is that:

Josh's dad worked at A51 with the spaceship and alien thingy
He caused that train crash years later.
He stealed a spacecube(or more) and hided it/them, so after 30 years his son Josh can find them
Josh is followed/watched by an bad, mysterious man(who worked with his father) who also has broken into his house.
That man kidnapped josh's friend sarah and wants the spacecubes/vitas relic and that device, he found in the cave.
Sarah is working for an unknown company, which did some strange things in the past, which doesn't fit to the company.

I believe it was sarah who broke into his house
