 		Unanswered questions
What do we want to find out that we don't already know?
What questions do we have about Marble Hornets in general? I can think of a few:

Who is totheark?
What is the ark exactly?
Why is Timasky attacking Jay?
Who is Hoody/Skimasky/Blasky?
How is Jay involved?

Of course, I'm sure these aren't all the questions we have. What are the questions you have?

AND WHAT IS SLENDY UP TO? I mean maybe he just wants a hug or something, must be quite a sad life if everyone just runs away from you Sad

 		For me, the big unanswered question - which is probably key to unravelling all the others - is "What exactly did go down with Alex's original investigation?"

If you think about it, the stuff we actually know about Alex's investigation - which, remember, was the basis for most of the entries in the first half or so of season 1- is actually quite sparse. We know Slendy was appearing to Alex and the other MH filmmakers, we know Alex was trying to investigate the Operator, we see him talking about a number of people - including, bizarrely, Jay, being gone. Then at some point he seems to have straight up given up: he shut down the filming, he handed his tapes to Alex, and in entry 26 he appears to be living a relatively normal life. (He doesn't appear to be constantly filming himself, for starters, which is miles more functional than he was at the height of his paranoia.)

There are big gaps in this picture, gaps which are probably key to figuring out Alex's motivations and goals. For example:
- How did Alex start investigating Slendy in the first place? In particular, was it something he got into by accident, or was he looking for the Operator before he found him?
- What exactly happened to all those people he cited as being "gone" in his monologue?
- Most importantly, what did he discover in his investigation? What conclusions did he come to which made him back away and stop following this thing altogether?

 		I'll work on the small questions:

1. Where is/What happened to Alex's GF? (Dead? Hiding? Dumped Him?)
2. Who is the anonymous tipster that sent Jay to the house? How did they communicate? (Likely TTA/email, but never explicitly stated)
3. Who is Jessica & is she at all important?
4. What is Jay doing NOW (not 7 months ago)?
5. When/Where did Entry 29 and Entry 38 occur?
6. What is the significance of the Mystery Key from Entry #28?
7. When/Why did Jay start using ChestCam?
8. What's on the external HD (twitter 06/07/11 suggests this is forthcoming)?
9. Is Alex lying about his motives? Is Jay lying to the audience? (that's probably not a "small" question)
10. Is Jay still having missing time (outside of the 7 month intermission)?

ETA:
11. Why (IG) is Slendy called "the Operator"?
12. What is the significance of water vis a vis the Operator?

9. The only thing we've really heard from Alex is that Jay is easily found and the story in the woods. The first one is pretty much true, and I'm gonna guess Alex isn't talking out of his ass just to creep Jay out. Also, Jay is almost definitely hiding something now, and has been confirmed for hiding things in the past.
10. Yes, after the "tweetpocolypse".
11. I would guess because he can/is controlling things/people.
12. Two significant possibilities: He is weakened by water or he uses water. I'm going with the second.

I am also of the opinion that Jessica is part of another story that is tangentially intersecting MH; but again, no confirmation just yet. But, until we see some sign of her again, I'm considering her mostly a red herring.

You know, I was just thinking about this recently. We never see anyone with a gun, or anyone even mention having a gun. I would have guessed that Alex might have had one (possibly the cause of the bleeding back in Entry #14? Misfire/ricochet?), but I reckon if he had one he would have brought it to take out TiMasky in #35. Right now that bullet casing and its implied weapon are a strange, anomalous absence in the clues. I'm going to be a little gobsmacked if they go and make it a literal Chekhov's gun.

So you're telling me a fired bullet hit Alex in the head and yet he's still alive? I'm all but certain the bullet casing was a red herring, or filter.

On the other hand, I refuse to believe Jessica was a red herring. You don't hire a new actress, put her in every entry in the first act of the new series and then disregard them entirely.

That was Entry #39, not #38. #38 was an unmarked tape.

Note that a graze wouldn't kill a person hit in the head. I doubt Alex would be so calm about it, but it's a possibility.

That single casing is quite mysterious. It's placement almost purposeful. Supposedly only a single shot was fired at that location then.

Of course as you said, it could be just an odd distraction that means little.
