Here's another question.
I heard that the three dots on the trucks n stuff had something to do with the lights seen from UFOs like in the Japanese Poster
(http://www.onlinemovieshut.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/super-8-poster.jpg) Look at the the lights directly in front of them. They seem to form the three dots that are on the trucks n stuff. Do you think that those might have anything to do with anything? Or are they just on the poster to lure the audience in when nothing like that even happens in the movie?

Correct me if I'm wrong but there are 6 children: Joe, Preston, Carey, Charles, Martin and Alice. However, in the movie poster I only see 5 silhouette's? What's going on there??

Also, what's the deal with the water tower? I thought the creature had been hiding there the whole time..

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I speculate that the water tower is the tallest structure in Lillian, and because of that, it can send the strongest transmission. The creature is probably finding electrical parts all around town, to create a mixture of components that could produce an electromagnetic wave, bringing the cubes back together to form the ship. Possibly.

pay attention to the tv when they're in the monster's lair

Also, considering all the Minker stuff can anyone explain why "Mr. Minker" is actually Dr. Woodward?

I thought it was pretty clear that he changed his name after leaving service.

I cannot believe that I have actually seen this movie. Just one of those flicks like Tron Legacy where I wait so long for the experience, that after it happens, I am in denial that the moment had finally come and gone.

This film has changed my life.

Did it actually say anywhere that his name was minker? Yes I know josh's last name is indeed minker but perhaps he was born without Sr. Minker in the picture and took on Evelyn's last (maiden) name. Or maybe she wad remarried and took on the minker name along with josh.

ephall 22-20

is it more family oriented, or is it more "holy shit look at that monster alien thing"? i wish for more of a "holy shit look at that monster alien thing", but then it definitely seems like a family film

Can someone tell me the general time length over which the movie takes place?

A few days?
A week?
A month?
Just curious.
I apologize if this has been discussed.
Trout away!

The intro is one day in February of 79 and then it jumps to June of 79. Takes place over a few days, maybe a week tops...probably closer to 3 or 4 days.

After the "Four Months Later" tag, I would say it's about 4-5 days. It takes 2-3 days for

Wait....

The OP said the people who were abducted by the monster "deserved" it, and it would make sense when we saw the film.

Did I miss something? Because I saw the film, and nothing implying they might have deserved it caught my attention.
