Answered (nicely) I thought by the editing room and Interactive trailer from Portal 2. Inhibiter sprayed in the cage 3 was only paused long enough to feed the creature. In the portal interactive trailer the train-car was refrigerated and that stopped working after the train-wreck.

Edited to add:
I still haven't seen the movie so that ^^^ assumption could be false.
Somehow I don't really have any questions, that haven't been answered or that seem to "need" to be answered.

I pondered the same question and thought about the "f1 inhibitor" - however i also noticed in one of the trailers a power pole falling on the train-car after the crash and wonder if the electrical current had something to do with the alien's ability to escape. I'll buy either one....
