It was probably mentioned when the hard drive was first discovered, but what if it had a ton of malicious stuff on it? That is of course dependent on the source of the hard drive in the first place. Granted, I don't know what it would do to further the story, but it is an interesting thought.

Jay, how could you forget? Was it stuck at the bottom of your bag or something?

THEORY: Perhaps the footage in the external hard drive is from the chest cam. He mentioned before that the chest cam had a hard drive itself and did not run on tapes, and it would be a good place to store everything, so this makes sense to me.

Clearly this is building up to the big reveal: Marble Hornets is just one big promotion for SELinux. Obviously. It's the only platform not currently susceptible to viruses.
