If you didn't check the box...then why would they send you emails with phone numbers and stuff? And I realize that they didn't invent the word, but since it hasn't been used in this ARG...That's just the first thing I thought of. I'm just saying...It's very strange that suddenly one person who didn't check the email box is getting emails. and some who did check the box aren't. Anyone who saw the bonaroo stuff could've picked up the name, put the pieces together, and sent emails to someone. Mission Ice Fly doesn't really mean it's related either when you look at the fact that you're the only one hearing about it. I'm not trying to attack or anything...but gamejacking isn't unheard of. I was part of an ARG where everyone was lead the wrong direction by a gamejacker who was very very good. Giving your phone number to unconfirmed emails and such...isn't the best idea. I just think questioning till confirmed isn't a bad idea.

 		Well, I was finally able to catch up on the 18 pages of posts to make sure I wasn't repeating anything and to see where everyone is at. Glad to see some former (and some of the best) Super 8 ARGers--punxtr and Nostromo. =) Kudos on the cubes. Still jealous here.

Anywho, I signed up a couple of weeks ago and am set to get an ID but no go on the emails/mysterious phone calls. =(

On a side note, last year in March, 5 gum had a freebie via facebook app. I found it through HeyItsFree.net. Here is a link to the old post: http://www.heyitsfree.net/category/food/page/28/. (You'll have to scroll down a bit.)

For those of you who did not know about this offer, you could click the link on HeyItsFree and it took you to a video that showed a man walking into a room that looked like the room in this video:

During the video, all of those screens filled with pictures from your facebook account. It was one of the creepiest experiences of my life. Lolz. Anyways, I can't remember there being much of a point to the creepy video experience, but at the end of the video, you put in your info and they sent a pack of 5 gum. It took a while for the gum to arrive, though. Hopefully getting the package won't take as long this time. So, seeing the similarities between this new round of videos and the one from a year ago, I'm trying to think if there's some connection. If anyone has any ideas or also participated in the freebie last year, let me know!

Lol, I wasn't trying to come off as rude at all, and I lied. I thought i didn't. But I did apparently. So that's how they gathered my information. However, I am sticking to the hypothesis that only a certain amount of people from each state/district is getting emails and calls like this. Could be setting up a way to purposely "leak out" information. I don't know. We will just have to wait and see. June 24th is when I will know something. Regardless of what is going on, I will contact all of you when I get any kind of new information that I am "allowed" to release.

 		Hi there. I'm a noob and decided to try ARG's after reading about them in the book Little Brother (good book, recommend it highly) I got my little icefly helicopter today. My grandma almost threw it away because she thought it was a bomb. apparently it had started flashing inside the bag lol. anyways, I just wanted to say hi and can't wait to see what happens on June 30th!

 		Videos on 5 gum's facebook fan page
So I was perusing the facebook fan page for 5 Gum and watched some of the videos. While looking at the last few, I noticed there was text that appeared when I hovered my cursor above each video. I hovered above all of them to see what they say. Two of the videos didn't have any text, but there were 3 in particular that caught my attention. The top picture in my attachment mentions something about visiting 5react "to see if you will be chosen". The middle one says "You could be one of the select few chosen" and to be "the first to arrive at 5react.ca". The last one says pretty much the same as the second but in French (at least according to my ability to roughly translate French via comparison of French to English---if there's something I missed, feel free to add it.) Sounds to me like instead of the few being chosen for the special email/phone calls based on location, those people were chosen based on when they accessed the site.

Also, I'm confused as to who all can participate in this "ARG" (I put that in quotes due to speculation about viral marketing...though I believe it's an ARG). It appears like it is open only to those in the US and Canada based on the facebook page as well as the links you can click on http://www.5react.com/ (though I'm not sure who all is being included in "other" on the 5react site). However, http://www.5react.com/ states in the lower left corner of the site that the "promotion" is only open in Australia and New Zealand, but when you click on the links, it says the promotion is closed for them. Does anyone from non-US nations want to verify that they are able to participate?

Hmmm, now that I think about it, I'm slightly concerned that this is being called a "promotion" on the 5 gum website. Any thoughts?

 		I'm thinking people are getting the e-mails but may not be on the unforums yet.

I am eagerly awaiting the mail now.
However I am also wondering-is it number based those who get e-mails had to be a specific number of sign-up, mail outs another-perhaps evens and odds?If not then maybe it is a random thing and we each will get something sooner or later.

 		Yeah, given how widespread the marketing for this (concerts, events, etc), it's quite likely that a number of the people getting emails just aren't a member of the forums.

I signed up later than most, but I'm still crossing my fingers to get in on this. Smile

I'm guessing that, even if the majority of us aren't in the first round, it's possible that we'll be tapped later -- that this may be something with multiple missions or tasks, assigned at different times, that vary according to the answers given on the site? Maybe? Or something? I wouldn't put it past 42E to do something with several layers of participation.

 		Yeah, I'm really hoping that even latecomers will be involved eventually. It does sound like something with multiple phases (or "missions") so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Based on our responses would be cool, although I don't even remember what my responses were by now.

 		To be honest, I think it was all sheer coincidence and everything lining up for me to be picked. I probably did the right combination at the right time and I am in the right area and the right age group. Y'know? They like doing stuff like this.
