Hidden images in corrupted image files

I really have done my best to see if this is mentioned elsewhere, but I can't find an explanation as to how people are able to view these.

With the wav files hidden in the corrupted images I was able to listen to them easily enough just by opening the image file in notepad, deleting everything before and after the wav file (which was clearly marked in the text) and then saving with a .wav extension and opening it with Windows Media Player. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any way to extract the hidden images that are supposedly embedded in the text of the corrupted image files. I look at the corrupted image file in notepad, but I don't see anything that jumps out at me as being a hidden image file. So could someone please explain how to get at these?

Surely someone knows how to extract and view them. Anyone?

Some people have programs that extract the difference between two files and save that as another file.
