This Pale Fire stuff sounds pretty plausible to me (are you sure you aren't Jeff?).

I mean Damsel mentioned it a few times.

I also kinda of wonder what it has to do with Noah.

If Damsel was quoting from that book, then it is definitely probable.

We don't know, and yelling won't help. The last thing he uploaded was apparently a night-time visit to a park.

I find this whole crossover thing interesting. However, I find it more intriguing that according to the Microfilm from the Hamilton Public Library, Dr. C was in Hamilton in 1993. Then, according to the burnt letter compliments of Noah, was in Florida two years later being accused of being a rapist (or at least that's what I'm assuming given the context of the word in the letter). What the heck?! This guy gets around.

Whoa, whoa, he's accused of being a rapist???

THIS JUST CONVINCES ME EVEN MORE THAT THE BOYS SHOULD NOT TRY TO SEEK THIS MAN OUT. The day they meet James Corenthal is the day it all comes crashing down.

Here's a link, if you're really that concerned. xD

I thought I may as well add that the dialogue in which the password "pity" is given appears in one of Kinbote's notes, the note referring to Line 549 of the poem. 549 is the end of a stanza, so I just copied the whole thing:

Quote:
Instead
The Institute assumed it might be wise
Not to expect too much of paradise:
What if there's nobody to say hullo
To the newcomer, no reception, no
Indoctrination? What if you are tossed
Into a boundless void, your bearings lost,
Your spirit stripped and utterly alone,
Your task unfinished, your despair unknown,
Your body just beginning to putresce,
A non-undresssable in morning dress,
Your widow lying prone on a dim bed,
Herself a blur in your dissolving head!
While snubbing gods, including the big G,

This section of the poem appears to be a meditation on the afterlife. I'll be honest, I didn't read the whole thing, just sort of skimmed it. I would note, however, that Line 549 talks about snubbing gods - not so different from the Guardian and his prophesied defiance, perhaps? The couple of stanzas following this are actually pretty interesting looking too, though I doubt they're directly relevant - talk of "freak reincarnation" and "how to keep sane in spiral types of space." Like I said, probably not related, but it definitely resonates.

(I should also add that I'm not fully convinced myself that this is at all related to anything, though Damsel's references do help a lot. Honestly, the English major in me just jumped at the chance to try to help find meaning in something long and confusing. xD)

I believe that's just the second half of the word therapist continued from the previous line.

In my best Sean Connery voice: I'll take The Rapists for $200, Alex.

And it looks like he subscribed to some Harry Potter related channels this afternoon, according to the recent activity panel on his channel. Wizardry!

Haha, look at me thinking the worst. I'm horrible. So, false rapist accusations aside, still interested in what this Fellowship thing was and what Charles Manson has to do with anything. Possibly a fellowship of therapists working on the worst of the worst which is why Mr. Manson was mentioned? Just throwing that out there.

Is that what the MT4 kids "succumbed" to? THE HORROR!

Looks like JesterOfTheCourt has earned a gold star.

I'm wondering if "pity" might not be a password itself but rather that the pieced-together note is meant to point us toward the passage in Pale Fire. My head is too buzzy to penetrate the prose, beautiful as it is, right now; can anyone dig out anything in the passage that might be relevant?
