folks slip up, especially when they get excited about the neat thing they've just made and want to see folks' reactions to it. sometimes they get called on it and sometimes mods are either busy or biased or just lenient. creators pop up occasionally and, when reminded they shouldn't be here, disappear again. we have a (technically EMH-based but also more general slendy-related) chat for when some creators want to interact more with folks directly OOG. y'all don't need to get upset or point out inconsistencies in rule enforcement--your mods are very much human and susceptible to the same weaknesses regular users are.

let's just go back to what we're here for: picking these videos and messages apart until they make even less sense than what we started with.

(and sorry for the long-windedness. i just want us to try to keep from resenting each other and draw attention back to what's important.)

So, what's the symbolic significance of the hardwood floors?

Try from Gravedigger from Dave Matthews Band.

Ring around the rosey
Pocket full o'posey
Ashes to ashes
We all fall down

Ps:Oh, hells. Correcting: Dave Matthews. (This was released in a solo album he made, but are used in the band's shows)

This has been my biggest point. I won't lie: every single person who criticized Adam for the video, but then criticized him again for defending himself (save Atom, who was following the rules) is, as far as I am concerned, a coward.

I would sure appreciate some clarification on that opinion. What exactly is cowardly about criticism? The viewers had the balls to offer their opinions, Adam had the balls to publicly become defensive about them, and some of the viewers (like me) then had the balls to criticize what they saw as the less-than-graceful way in which he defended himself, not because they are trolls or cowards, but because they legitimately enjoy the dude's work and they thought it was an unfortunate post. Would you have me slobber sycophantically over his every word, even if they sit funny with me? Man, I would fucking hate it if someone did that to me. Frankly, that strikes me as far more cowardly than actually saying something about it.

This isn't a big deal, and we don't need to form a sub-committee over it. It's not reflective of anybody's character. I would suggest that one of the surefire ways you could TURN IT INTO a big deal would be by slinging around words like "coward," or (on the other side of this silly equation) getting hot and bothered by Adam posting in his own thread.

Reading through the relevant posts, I don't see anyone who would deserve to be called a coward. My own posts could be summed up as: "I'm not all that happy about how this was handled, and this is probably not the place for the creator to defend himself, now let's move on and focus on the story". Others were mentioning ruined immersion, or discussing what is or isn't legitimate criticism - all valid points. Unless this vague, inflammatory statement is explained, I'm just going to dismiss it as vague, inflammatory nonsense.

Now let's move on and focus on the story.

CHRIST no. I love reading the criticism on this site. My complaint was against those who didn't so much criticize the way Adam responded, but more so criticized /that/ he responded. I'm sorry if that's not very clear, but I'm trying my best, I've been awake less than two hours, and the caffeine is just now hitting my bloodstream.

And Rodion, the above applies here. I wasn't trying to inflame anyone here, and honestly, my beef isn't strictly with Unfiction about this. (There were others who had that attitude.) I just felt that it's shared.

What it comes down to is this: if you criticize something, that's all well and good. But if you then either refuse to acknowledge response to your criticism, or ignore the substance of that criticism to attack the method of that criticism, you're being cowardly.

And I reject the concept of "immersion" as it applies to this. I've got my reasons, but this isn't the place to discuss them. (Anyone can feel free to PM me, or find me on Angora, if you want to discuss that.)

It is somewhat of a big deal, unfortunately. Up until now, we've somewhat looked the other way when creators post craftily in the threads, but now we have to take a strict stance on the rules. Otherwise we get people like 20dollaz saying that there's some sort of favoritism happening. And he's not 100% wrong on that.

But the problem here is that creators aren't allowed to post in their own threads, so by responding to Nimbus' criticism we would have encouraged him to continue breaking the rules. In this case, the method of his criticism was the problem. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be one of the "cowards" (hence why I called your statement vague), but if Nimbus has any problem with anything I've written I'm certainly not afraid to discuss it - but not in this thread.

And you can't reject the concept of immersion on other's behalf. Some people feel that their immersion is ruined by seeing the creators post in their own threads, and they have every right to feel that way. I don't see how your personal feelings about immersion are relevant here.

I'd like to add that I don't really have a problem with Nimbus posting here. Minor mistake, let's move on. My problem is seeing people being called "cowards" when they handled a somewhat delicate situation as best they could. Except that I probably shouldn't have compared him with 2080, that was uncalled for.

I personally used the "ruining my immersion" thing as a tactful way of saying "shouldn't be here, dude". Mostly because I've been spending some time on the MH subforum and ruined immersion is a running gag over there.

Maybe this whole town ruined my immersion...

Anyways, if you think I'm a coward, Draven, I apologize for apparently misrepresenting myself. I was just trying to diffuse the situation, such as it was. Also, I don't really think I was delivering all that harsh of criticism anyways, but that's just my personal opinion on my personal opinion.

Hopefully Adam will feel really frustrated about this whole situation, and channel it through the sickest, most brutal Observer video ever, with all of us being pulled apart like fresh bread by a million tentacles and the blood going psssshhh in slow motion.

And then, maybe, we can finally put Ebertgate behind us and go back to wondering if we'll ever see Kevin, or if Mary Asher set fire to Liam, or if Sarah was having an affair with Milo... like the good old days.

Maybe we're just stuck in a loop of ruined immersion...
