The first line of numbers is in hex, and translates to 'Polymath' (again).

The second part is hex in decimal form, translates to:

Quote:
Haec studia adolescentiam alunt, senectutem oblectant, secundas res ornant, adversis perfugium ac solacium praebent, delectant domi, non impediunt foris, pernoctant nobiscum, peregrinantur, rusticantur

Which is apparently by Cicero, part of a speech called 'Pro Archia Poeta'

Translates to:

Quote:
These studies sustain youth and entertain old age, they enhance prosperity, and offer a refuge and solace in adversity; they delight us when we are at home without hindering us in the wider world, and are with us at night, when we travel and when we visit the countryside

The quote from Cicero seems to be describing the modules themselves.
Not sure about the "Polymath "and "J.L." (presumably John Lennon). Perhaps a clue to module 8?

I received an email from Lane's account entitled "Regarding Lane" with a link to Lis's post.

Lis has now also posted an entry from Lane's log (wasn't specific as to whether it was the last one or not):
Quote:
From Lane's Log
We haven't been able to figure out why the station and our quarters are falling apart, but as more and more key systems fail it become apparent to me that we don't have much time.

All along, we have struggled to understand our purpose and our mission. N has not been forthcoming about this, if he even knows. I have managed contact with what I will refer to as "outsiders," but they are just as much in the dark as we are. What troubles me most is that I remember more and more about my life before this mission, and less and less about the mission itself.

Today N gave me a blank book, and inside the cover he had written the following quote and date: "A Man Can Do All Things if He Will." 1404-1472

I haven't had time to talk to him about what the book is for or what the quote means.

Perhaps this is the clue to 8?

The quote is from Leon Battista Alberti - those are his birth & death dates, and that quote is his definition of 'polymath'. however, that doesn't seem to be the password. I tried davinci, seeing as he was a polymath, and famously wrote backwards (which has been hinted at as a clue), but doesn't seem to work...

Tried "leonardodavinci" as well as both passwords backwards. Also didn't work.

Lis posted again.
Quote:
Modules?
I found the modules blog and have unlocked all of the modules and made them public except modules nine and ten. Lane left specific instructions to do so in his log. He also left the following rather cryptic note:

"You will not be able to unlock modules nine and ten. I do not have the passwords for these. N has told us that the key to the final modules is located within the living quarters, but so far we have all been stumped. During our last lesson, when we begged for a clue, N said, to us: 'The key is in the previous modules, but first you have to find the lock.' None of us has any idea what this means."

I've been reading through modules 1-8 and it all seems like a bunch of unrelated gibberish to me. I have also been looking around the living quarters, as I'm sure the rest of the crew must have done, but have yet to find anything significant. As I continue to pour through Lane's log I will post what find here…

-Lis

Looks to me like we're waiting for her to discover the "lock" somewhere in the quarters.

I was looking into the Cicero quote, and it seems as though he was talking about a type of person known as a 'Humanitas', which seems to be a similar concept to that of a polymath.

New post up:

Quote:
This from Lane's log:

"So far we have made the following progress on the Module Eight password. We know that there are eight clues to the password, each clue containing the following number of characters:"

Clue #1 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Clue #2 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Clue #3 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Clue #4 _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Clue #5 _ _ _ _

Clue #6 _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Clue #7 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Clue #8 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

"We know that these clues are related to previous modules, but we haven't yet figured out how."

Ok, my guess is that this is the "lock." What, exactly then, is the "key?"
Any ideas?

Apparently, this is Leonardo Da Vinci's 'Study of Cat Movements and Positions'.

Gah, da Vinci MUST have something to do with the password! Grrr.

First thought that comes to mind - any chance the # of dashes that make up the clues match up with titles of da Vinci works? I really know little about da Vinci, just thinking aloud!

Also, anyone able to make out the writing at the bottom of that picture? Tried zooming in but the resolution made it unreadable

For clue #2 I am sure it is ReneDescartes. While Socrates asserted that one could be wise, without having wisdom; Rene asserted that everyone is wise, while thinking they are wise.

Another untitled post on the blog. This one wasn't signed Lis (strange), and wasn't designated as being from Lane's log. All it was was the following quote:
Quote:
"…Once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return."

And another unnamed post:

If my eyes don't deceive me, this is the same string of numbers over and over again. I guess that means it's important?
