Not necessarily, other vlogs could just say that Our Monsters Are Different.

TV tropes FTW. But really, if they ever truly define the operator, it won't be slenderman anymore...it will be The Operator, in every single way

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(also, has anyone else wondered if they just said 'The Operator' in that interview to fuck with us?)

Not really, thanks to TTA's videos. Indicator has a "0 (Oper)" button in the baby doll's eye... and Sidetone starts zoomed in on a phone's 7,8,*,and 0 buttons.

First of all, not to be a douche, but it's "The Operator".
Secondly, to think outside the box, I would suggest hanging up on the Operator... I don't know!

Alex actually has defeated the Slenderman before, if you are willing to accept 'escape' as a type of 'defeat.' The solution seems to be to just stop thinking about him. Alex got rid of his tapes, left town, and removed himself from everything associated with Slenderman, and it worked. As far as we can tell, he had two years of monster-free normalcy.

Jay started to do the same, and things started to get better for him.

The solution probably would have been permanent, if events hadn't drawn them back into the thick of things. And by 'events,' I mean (probably) totheark.

This.

At least for me. My favorite concept of the Slender Man is that he exists (or at least operates) as a memetic horror: "He can only get you if you think about him. Now try not to think about him." Kind of like the Game (sorry, I lost) but it's trying to kill you.

Unfortunately, a number of things exist that make it difficult, if not impossible, to forget about the Slender Man: The Operator Symbol acts as a spontaneous reminder of him, and even without it being drawn, etched and flashed all over the place, similar shapes occur innocently all the time: drainage valves often use a wheel with X-shaped cross bars, railroad signs bear a striking resemblance, and the spraypainted markings they use on streets for construction purposes (at least here in the States, in Oregon) all come to mind as common examples.

Another challenge exists for Jay and Alex in particular: ToTheArk. I suspect that ToTheArk is someone (or multiple someones) who are stuck in a loop of unhappiness unable to put the Slender Man out of their minds: to that end, they seek the help of Jay and/or Alex, who they believe will show them the way to rid themselves of the Operator (metaphorically, lead them "to the ark"). Unfortunately for our heroes protagonists, ToTheArk's constant reminders of our Tall Friend make it impossible to avoid him.

EDIT: This is all interesting to think about considering that my main theory behind the Operator's motives is that he is some manner of quantum being (a walking tear in space/time, if you will) and actually doesn't want to be remembered or recorded. He's capable of travelling (probably in a limited capacity) through space and time, but being observed or on camera binds him to that spot (and so he must use mundane methods of locomotion, which he's kind-of not so good at), and memories and recordings define where his is (was) at a specific point in the past (thus preventing him from traveling back to that time). Hence, he works to destroy all such evidence (destroying tapes, and killing those who remember him, or erasing their memory of him). Because of this, whenever someone thinks of him, it acts as a beacon to which he is likely to respond.

Alex's one fatal flaw in his attempts to escape the Slender Man was to not destroy the tapes in the first place.

EDIT EDIT: On further speculation, it's more likely that the tapes have no actual effect on Slendy's time-traveling abilities. Rather, they exist as a threat to them: if a person were to watch the tapes, they would retroactively "witness" where he was, and then that new living memory would bind him once again. Hence why he hates being taped.

Someone I talked to once speculated that Slenderman might not have the Masked Brigade just for Slenderkicks, but because the Operator might have some sort of limitations in his physical form/this dimension that humans don't--i.e. that a need for Masky/Hoodie/Skully might be evidence of some sort of weakness.

I think there's some hope in that Alex appears to have somehow escaped enough to start up a normal life (although the fact that the mere presence of a camera used to record Slenderactivity could summon the Operator into his home is disheartening) and Tim seemed to have escaped as well--if you think he wasn't lying in the interview, which I do. Plus there's the fact that Jay did get better just by running away from the problem.

I agree that escape is the only hope, not the destruction of Slenderman. (That would be boring, anyway.) However, even though I really want the entirety of the MH crew to walk away from this mess, I also think that this is going to end in death.

Unless someone has a portal gun.

Not really. I don't know about you, but I'm operating under the idea that each slendervlog is in a separate reality, because otherwise this would mean that Slendy is stalking large amounts of people. (Also, he's The Operator, not Slender Man, in MH. Thus, he's not exactly the same creature.)

I'll actually be disappointed if the story ends with a violent confrontation with the Slenderman. It's just totally the wrong tone. An action-packed finale might work for some horror stories, but not this one. Also, watching a bunch of guys pretending to fight a paper-mâché mannequin would be uh...

Where did Jay almost get rid of Slender stuff? I don't recall.
(And if you're meaning that TTA sent the package in Entry 26, I'm pretty sure Alex confirmed that he did, didn't he?)

I always thought that since he isn't of our reality, binding him to our reality could be used to defeat him. If you look at him, he becomes unable to teleport, perhaps if you find a way to bind material from our reality to him, he would become bound to our universes laws and become mortal.
