PICTURES AT AXONS OF CREW DEMONSTRATING SKILLS!

Don't know if we will need this, but this thread can be a place to post pictures. People wihout manipulation abilities can at least put them up here and there may be someone else can do what is needed.

Unlocked this thread now, and while we probably don't need to host them here for any reason, if you want to post copies of the pics you send Melissa (particularly the one that goes for the scuba pic), this is the place!

Pictures

Info from Malrog:

Don't forget people, if you want to send a message to the SP, these pics are your chance! You can either put some subtle sign in the picture (I believe red balloons were a favourite SPEC) or you can hide text in the image, much like the SP has been doing with us.

To hide text in an image without corrupting the image, you need to open the image in a hex editor and add the text after the end of the file. You can't do this in Notepad or Wordpad as they alter the rest of the file when opening it, so then saving it again ruins the image.

I don't know of any hex editors, maybe someone who does know of a free downloadable one could post a link to it here? And if anyone does hide text in the image, can someone please ask the SP for a hint on the prepositions puzzle?!

If you don't have a hex editor, there is annother (more "ghetto") way to do it.

On a windows system, right click the file and select "properties".

Click on the summery tab and enter your text into the "comments" field.

Click "Okay".

Open your file in notepad.

---> It's not pretty, but it works.

Also, no digicam? No problem!

Poloroids and a scanner work just as well. (And they do have disposible poloroid cameras out there if you look.)

Also, if you have a copy of Microsoft Access, you can get my program for inserting text into the image in this thread.

It will allow you to insert text at any position in the image, not just at the end, so the image will actually look corrupted (which it won't if you just place the text at the end, and the PMs might not realise that there is text there).

Freeware hex editor: HexWorks http://falkoris.tripod.com/utils.htm. It's the one I've been using so far for reading JPGs. It calls it's OPEN dialog a SAVE dialog, but that's just a loveable quirk.

Under OSX on a Mac you can just open it in "Textedit" and insert text anywhere you want. I have found that it works best if you put it near the end. Just close the file and answer "save" when it asks you to save it. "Save as" doesn't work well, so make a copy before you do this so that you will have an uncorrupted version.

How do you send a picture to the SP. I have scuba equipment here. I'm also a med student and could probably help with that science medical thingy.

Is anyone sure yet what we're supposed to be taking pictures OF? I mean, it seems like we have to take pictures of ourselves doing stuff related to the categories presented on recipe5, but.... that's going to make things tough on the solo axon hunters.

This may be me being impatient, but do we HAVE to receive a live call before posting pics? I pretty much have my photos lined up.

NOTE: I sent the photo HOURS before my axon.

It still works.

And i've never talked to Melissa live before.
