This post may be kind of long, and I don't really care if you don't read it. I have a (probably way, way, off) theory about the Vincent/Vouyer situation and what he's been doing behind the scenes. I'm sticking it behind a spoiler so I don't inadvertantly trigger anyone. This may contain triggers for survivors of sexual assault.

Probably nothing. It's just an idea I had to get out of my very weird brain. Now that I see it in writeing it seems kind of silly.

No kidding, dude. XD I mean, I can kind of see where you're coming from, because that's not uncommon behavior in sexual abuse survivors, but 1) we have no proof that Vin in the current timeline was molested or raped and 2) the label of "Voyeur" is applied in regards to the supernatural happenings. Sadly, there is nothing supernatural or strange about sexual assault.

If that sort of thing was revealed about him (and I'm not saying it's impossible) then I would treat it as further background/characterization instead of a plot point.

Issues of potential sexual abuse in character backstory were broached in this series months ago, and we didn't stick it behind tags because it's not a spoiler. I think we should be able to discuss this - and cruising, which is as old as the hills - in public. It was not an issue when we first were given that letter.

Let's please not get into a debate over whether or not trigger warnings are appropriate. I think at this point it's been established that providing that kind of safe space is not part of UF practice, and trying to change the culture at this point will just lead to a lot of butthurt on all sides. Use them if you like but don't expect others to follow suit, and let other people use them without ridicule even if you don't think they're necessary.

Protip, guys: Trigger warnings, in places where they are one of the community conventions, aren't used to hide offensive material. They're used as a heads-up to people who get flashbacks when they read about other people being assaulted. I thought Sol's piece was funny for what it was, but it's pretty far off-target.

Because the boys are going to put trigger warnings on their material as well. Considerateness be damned, that's just plain illogical considering the substance of this ARG. Shall we go ahead and have a discussion of the Hurt Locker with trigger warnings on anything that might inspire post traumatic stress in soldiers reading, too?
