But TTA didn't post during the same period of time - longer, in fact, as we didn't get the first TTA response of the 'second season' until after Jay had fled the hotel and started looking through the tapes he found in the safe. It was a full year, in fact. What's up with that?

Why make a response if there's nothing to respond to?

TTA's newest video:

-Hello?

-Anyone there?

Next video:

-Waiting for you

-Forever

After that:

-Joke's over

-can't find you

After that:

-Jay?......

-Am I being too straight forward?

After that:

-01001001001000000110110101101001011100110111001100100000011110010110111101110101

Final video:

-Screw it

-I'm done.

Why is visual tearing of the Operator present in say, #43 (video is too corrupt to continue while Alex is last seen 4 feet away from said creature), yet not so in TTA's Return when he is a mere 10 inches away from the camera?

Different cameras, maybe?

Operator wasn't aware of him there? or maybe it was just because it wasn't teleporting

I'm going with my 'emotions cause distortion' theory. If Alex was being hurt by The Operator's proximity, his pain combined with standard Slendistortion causes the marks on the video.

Whereas in Return, Jay is unconcious (looks like it anyway) and TTA probably didn't give a single fuck.

@Randoman - Not even one? lol

As for the visual tearing, that is one really specific type of distortion. I think it's possible that emotions could exacerbate normal distortion caused by a person saturated in Slendywaves, as in how the camera distortion goes haywire when Alex breaks Tim's leg in #35.

But I think the visual tear indicates when the Operator *appears* - not just when he shows up on film, but when he materializes in the general location of a working camera. In Return, he was probably already there when the camera started rolling, he just hadn't yet walked into the shot. (Although, looking at it again, the picture is jumping around so much it's hard to tell if the signature "single tear at bottom of screen" is there or not...)

You know, that does make sense. Jay's whole objective in starting the project was to find Alex and figure out what happened to him. Well, he found Alex (or Alex found him) and he's gotten a face-full of what happened during the production; so I guess it makes sense that he felt he didn't have to post any more videos (which were presumably asking us, the audience, for help).

I'm satisfied with that, good job.

I'm starting to go with the idea that visual tearing is a symptom of teleportation specifically, and possibly of the Operator teleporting. Still, there are a lot of inconsistencies and contradictions with that theory, and the distortions have generally been just to hint to the audience that the Operator or some of his influence is present.

^^This. Also, the return footage is shot with an odd filter, it almost looks like film stock. Film might not react IG to the Operator in the same fashion as video, which might also account for the "jump" while the Operator is midway down the hall.

Entry #20:

After the distortion (1:12 - 1:14) is over with...

Jay: "That's a whole lot of power to give someone like him." *points at Alex*
Alex: "Yeah, you know uhh. Pretty much everyone's at risk, it's a terrifying place."

I may be sensing a note of sarcasm in his voice, but maybe we're meant to take it for what it is.

What could he be referring to by "terrifying place"? Rosswood Park perhaps? (inb4 ROSSWOOD P4Rk? SEASON1??! NOWAIIII1!!!1!1) but yeah, THAT would make things interesting.

Btw, I've been journeying back into season one very thoroughly, in case anyone hadn't noticed. It's always been my belief that Season 1 is all about showing and Season 2 is all about telling.

Entry #21

The description is "1 of 2"

Where's 2 of 2 because Entry #22 has the description of "22"

The frame tearing comes before he's on camera, so maybe TTA just didn't show it?
