Ok, I decided to use an anagram solver with that phrase.
It spit out a metric ton of results, so I'll just post the ones that don't incorporate words so obscure I've never heard them before in my life.
Reheats Were Ill
I Weather Seller
I Wreathe Seller
Realise Her Welt
Reraise Hell Wet
Reraise The Well
Resale Where Lit
Elate Here Swirl
Eraser Wheel Lit
Erase Heel Twirl
A bunch more nonsense if you ask me. But, if there's even a slight chance it'll help, I'll post it.
EDIT: Ok, found a better solver that goes word-by-word. Will post any new discoveries here:
this rare well
twas hell eeire
eerie earths
Can't find much more than that, but for anyone who wants to give it a try: my tool is: http://boulter.com/anagram/

right, so looks like the anagram is in four words rather than three
As far as I can see, the first word could only be either 'at' or 'it'

"We are still here" is an anagram.

That looks like the right answer, but how does it help us?
I've attached a comment to this post on the site, hopefully that will provoke a response.

I think "we are still here" is a message coming from Lane and the crew. Remember, these messages had no title or signature, and the crew had supposedly disappeared. They seem to have found some way to contact us. Or, at least one of them has... I don't think it's meant to help with the puzzle at this point, just to provide part of the narrative.

New post. No idea what to make of it.

Newspaper Clipping from N's Quarters
A newspaper clipping from The Washington Post: March 4, 1916
Four Departments of New York City Government Summoned to Rescue Feline.
Curiosity, as you may recall—
On the fifth floor of the apartment house at 203 West 130th street lives Miss Mable Godfrey. When she came to the house about seven months ago she brought Blackie, a cat of several years' experience of life. The cat seldom left the apartment. He was a hearth cat, not a fence cat, and did not dearly love to sing. In other respects he was normal and hence curious. Last Tuesday afternoon when Miss Godfrey was out Blackie skipped into the grate fireplace in a rear room. He had done this many times before. But he had not climbed up the flue to the chimney. This he did Tuesday. Blackie there remained, perched on the top of the screen separating the apartment flue from the main chimney, crying for assistance. Miss Godfrey, returning, tried to induce her pet to come down. If you are experienced in felinity, you know that Blackie didn't come down. On Wednesday the cat, curiosity unsatisfied, tried to climb higher—and fell to the first floor. His cries could still be heard by Miss Godfrey; who, to effect Blackie's rescue, communicated with the following departments: 1. Police department. 2. Fire department. 3. Health department. 4. Building department. 5. Washington Heights court. Among them they lowered a rope to Blackie. But it availed neither the cat nor them anything. Thursday morning, just before noon, a plumber opened the rear wall back of the chimney. Blackie was taken out. His fall had injured his back. Ten minutes later Blackie died.

The headline of the story as it appeared in the Washington Post was "Curiosity Killed the Cat". Along with Da Vinci's Study of Cats and the crew member named Cat, I guess these should add up to something but I'm not sure what.
N killed Cat?

Another post. I still don't see where this is going:

He was another polymath :/
Don't suppose there were any polymaths whose name was foreign for "Cat" or something?

Apparently, this is a quote from Da Vinci. Means 'knowing how to see'.

Alhazen was a well known physicist specialized in optics. "knowing how to see" follows this. Just some similarities I'm throwing out there

Random thought.... everything seems to be bringing us back to 'polymath' right? But we're being told we need to know how to see, and different trails and all that... well, what if the password is an anagram of 'polymath'?

No, remember that list of blanks Lis found in Lane's log. We already know that we'll have to use that to find the password. We just don't know how to use it yet. Too bad "polymath" doesn't fit into any of those lines of blanks...

Schrodinger (11 characters)
Factor in that Schrodinger associated with Einstein, and Einstein was the only not artist on the list...
