FAQ for Players
General information about the ARG. Feel free to ask or answer!

After just hearing word of this ARG the other day (and first taking a look at it today) and browsing the multiple sites involved, along with forum posts, I was left with many questions that presumably other new players will have as well.

This thread is simply to contain and organize questions anyone (including myself) have about the ARG. Hopefully, those following since the start we'll be kind enough to supply answers. Any answered questions that would benefit new players will be placed in the original post (with credit to whomever answered.)

-Any unanswered questions that players might know will have a ? as the answer.

- Any questions that haven't been answered yet in game will receive a *.

General

Q: Who's/What's involved? Who's running this thing?
A: The game itself is being run by 42 Entertainment, the same folks who ran ilovebees, The Dark Knight ARG, and Flynn Lives. 5 Gum is definitely involved. As to what it's promoting specifically, or who else might be involved is anyone's guess.

Q: What do I get out of it?
A: If you're asking this, this is probably your first ARG. While swag (promotional items given out) is commonplace in most ARG's, don't solely play with the intention of getting nifty gifts. The fun lies within the anticipation of making progress through the game, solving puzzles and cryptic clues, and having a story revealed overtime through near complete immersion!

Mailings-
Small LED-lit Helicopter
Custom I.D. Badges based on the player's online I.D.

Location Drops:
Small mechanical Iceflies.

Profile

Q: How do I access the page to edit my ID?
A: Once you've created your ID badge, you cannot make changes to it. Your profile information, including your mailing address, e-mail address etc. can be changed from the "Edit Profile" button at the top right corner of your profile page.

Q: What achievements have been handed out so far? (Have I missed any?)
A:
One for registering.
One for creating an ID
One for obtaining an Icefly at an event at various cities.
Multiple for completing tasks within the facility.

Q: How do you get the Log Files?
They are scattered around the facility and are rewarded for solving puzzles and games.

Gum Codes and Keys

Q:Where can I find a code for a key?
A: Codes are contained in packages of 5 Gum specifically labeled with an Icefly on the back.

Q: What are the codes used for?
A: To unlock the new constellation key images on your profile (10 total) *OR* add another test facility key to your profile (you start with 3.)

Q:What are the facility keys used for?
A: They are used to unlock areas within the facility on Survivalcode.com

Q: How many keys do I need to progress?
A: So far, only one Facility key has been needed, and one constellation key. For now, you only "need" to purchase one pack of gum to see all there is to see.

It seems 15 codes are required to unlock everything available right now.
-It's speculated that there are 8 Facilities, 3 of which you already have keys for by default.
-There are 10 constellations to unlock.

When you login to either TheSurvivalCode.com or TestSubjectsNeeded.com, you can click on your username to edit details like your e-mail address, phone number, mailing address, et cetera. Once you've created your ID badge, you cannot make changes to it.

So when you enter the codes, can you just choose not to collect a constellation and recieve a facility key?

Yes. Many people have collected a facility key either by accident or on purpose once they've acquired all of the constellation keys.

Yes. You may choose one or the other. You must add it to your inventory from that validation page at that time because it will not allow you to enter the code a second time.

I have screenshots of the process, but am not at my own computer at the moment. I'll try to get to it sometime tomorrow.

lol! I'll always be the loser because of my slow connection. However, I do think we have enough varying info so our responses aren't too redundant.

I believe those appear once you've gone through all the steps that lead to the newest countdown. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you have to log in first and watch the full video at: www.survivalcode.com/thegenesis/ (you can get to it once logged in by clicking the image with Terry O'Quinn on it.) It turns into a point-and-click leading up to a facility in an icy mountain side where a red panel displays the newest countdown.
