A user named psychoninja12 has posted the following in the Google Spreadsheet thing:

They called back and it played some sort of log and it was some guy who said he was a doctor at Traelek Institute and said something has gone terribly wrong and then it just went dead

Needs to be investigated (namely, someone has to pickup the same call again, for which purpose he/she has to be near the phone always, or call from mobile phone, if possible.)

It also may be fake.

At this point I'm leaning towards fake.

This campaign is going to be rife with fakes and game-jackers.

Take everything ... wait for it ... with a grain of salt.
42 Entertainment will know this. They typically don't release anything that has us questioning "is this legitimate?" - they're typically quite obvious with what's connected and not. And in campaigns like this, I don't recall them ever singling out individual players with unique private communication the existence of which isn't first disclaimed to the player community.

Be on the ball! =)

I agree. Consider options/trails by all means, just remember there's no rush in committing to anything at this point.

Looks like I'm very bored now that nothing seems to be happening.
So I figured that Traelek is a simple anagram of Elektra, and found this:

http://vagueterrain.net/content/2011/05/elektra-12-playing-your-senses

It's some digital arts festival which includes installations directed at all senses. That's what made me link it here. It's definitely OOG.

BTW the Elektra needs to be looked into. Perhaps I'll Google some more.

Yes, is there anything Elektra ish, coming at ComicCon? Because surely the current countdown which leads us to, what, the 14th, will initiate something that leads to something/more at ComicCon...

I did all sorts of searching trying to spell Traelek backwards yesterday and somehow I completely failed to see "Elektra" in that name. Good catch. I really think you're onto something, since it's a weird name.

Now, in addition to the obnoxious comic book charater, Elektra is also a figure from Greek mythology/literature. I haven't read the Oresteia in years, but I believe the deal was that her mother and her mother's lover killed her father when he got back from Troy, so Elektra and her brother avenged her father's death. Lots of violence.

I can't think of anything specifically to do with the senses/ESP and Elektra, but I might still have a copy of my translation of the play at home...

I feel like I was supposed to be the one to figure that out. XD

Despite my username, I'm not much into greek mythos. I will be looking into mythos anagrams for hiltrecht as well. Perhaps I should look roman mythos, since it uses latin.

Traelek (Elektra/Electra) institute connection to survival code? Here we have a star cluster. Does this have to do with constellations? Keep digging, Watson!

Good find Aesculapius. I would caution, though, that a star is not a cluster is not a constellation. (I like to argue semantics, what can I say?)

Looking more into the Greek mythology behind the Seven Sisters - sticking to Wikipedia because dammit I can - we have some poetic commentary from Hesiod:

Quote:

The Greek poet Hesiod mentions the Pleiades several times in his Works and Days. As the Pleiades are primarily winter stars, they feature prominently in the ancient agricultural calendar. Here is a bit of advice from Hesiod:

"And if longing seizes you for sailing the stormy seas,
when the Pleiades flee mighty Orion
and plunge into the misty deep
and all the gusty winds are raging,
then do not keep your ship on the wine-dark sea
but, as I bid you, remember to work the land."
(Works and Days 618-23)

We have a couple more connections here, though I wonder if we aren't just seeing what we want to see.

The images on the Elektra12 site are akin to the ones seen on the FB advertising. I'm not sure though if the same. Can't seem to bring up the advert.

I think I'd have to agree with "seeing what we want to see," at the moment- an info dry spell can... Do things to an ARGer's mind. *wiggles fingers*

But yeah, the Elektra bit is an interesting catch, but I don't think it has much support beyond a possible anagram. I think if it were the case, the atmosphere of the ARG would have more nods towards the Orestaia/comic book/opera/record company.

Useless fact: the Seven Sisters star cluster looks like a tiny Dipper! It's one of the few things in the winter sky that I can pick out. XD

Well there is certainly a bit of an itallian theme going on with traelek, at least between decoy, latin on misguided, and the ventruvian man... then there is more the spanish rubullion or whatever heights... and constellations do fit...

Yeah, I'm not calling a link yet, but I still don't think this site has been fully attacked yet. We are missing something. The whole thing reeks of puzzle.

If only I had more direct access to photoshop/gimp!

I am fairly fluent with Photoshop. What do you want to do? I've been overlaying the comic book pages with different transfer methods, but alas nothing yet. Still looking though, in between animation jobs!
