[INFO]Attempt to unlock Confidential Files on recipe3

OK, I've been thinking long and hard about the Confidential files on recipe3, and I've come to the following conclusions. The text on the contactme page which states:
Code:
friends > !reveal Subject 5 >> master-sector
seeker > !transmit Durga

seeker > !analyze friends transmit proc
friends transmit proc >>

means the following:

Friends (i.e. SP's friends) should send Subject 5 information to Melissa (the master-sector) and then the Pious Flea (the seeker) will transmit the info to Durga. If the PF analyzes the friends transmissions, then what will they be?

The SP then responds: Um... How about, "Crewmember, What Is Your Version Number!"

It's my belief therefore that an e-mail with the subject line "Crewmember, What Is Your Version Number!" (without the quotes) will be intercepted by the PF (who is analyzing the friends transmit proc) and forwarded to Durga (kinda like an e-mail filter really), and so I wrote/plagarised the following:
What I wrote:
behold:
!analyze seeker
success

friends > !transmit truth
seeker >> !analyze friends transmit proc

reveal:
!label Malrog

Malrog
!reveal Subject 5 > seeker
seeker > !transmit Subject 5 >> Durga

Subject 5:
transfer
Lieutenant: Sir? These are transfer orders?
Herzog: Yes. Initial that you've seen them, would you?
Lieutenant: I don't understand, sir.
Herzog: (cranky) What's not to understand?
Lieutenant: But, is there--
Herzog: A diplomatic post in New Mombasa. Good for your career. That is all.
(Lieutenant remains)
Herzog: What are you waiting for?
Lieutenant: Did I... Have I been... I know that I didn't always--
Herzog: No, no, I gave you a good eval. (cranky) Can't find'em hungry anymore, not like when I was coming up.
Lieutenant: I'm sorry if I wasn't up to standards.
Herzog: Fine, fine. You're dismissed.
Lieutenant: You're covering something. The cranky old man bit...
Herzog: Not at all, soldier. Routine transfer.

moles
Herzog: It's a good posting - diplomatic. It'll do more for your career than this one would.
Lieutenant: (thinks) You need someone in New Mombasa.
Herzog: You were dismissed, soldier.
Lieutenant: You've already approved my transfer, kinda late to reprimand me.
Herzog: This is just the Navy, transfers happen. I've got work to do.
Lieutenant: I don't think that you want me there to work. Not if I'm officially attached to intel, that's too high profile. You like your moles small and innocuous.
Herzog: I will remind you that that information is not for idle speculation.
Lieutenant: Well, maybe you've got a new protege. The girl at Chawla?
Herzog: No, Rani's going to stay where she is. Now I have work to do, and you, I'm sure, need to make some arrangements.
Lieutenant: What are you up to?

you_alive
Herzog: I am up to my adam's apple in paperwork, and you owe me quite a bit of it. Surveillance analysis on Callisto, since you mention it. So, dismissed.
Lieutenant: You know, my mother is ill. I could request compassionate dispensation to stay here, where I'm close to her.
Herzog: That's enough. I'll have you investigated for malingering if you even try such a stunt. Do you hear me?
Lieutenant: So, you *want* me out of here?
Herzog: I have enjoyed working with you, young man, but I am not sentimental, and don't think I won't eat you alive if you start playing games with me.
Lieutenant: Sentimental? You're... you're protecting me from something? Something political?
Herzog: Get out. I have work to do.
(Lieutenant leaves)

Basically, I just took Astald's successful e-mail from previously and put in the new transcripts and changed it to my name! Hope you don't mind Astald?

I'd like to thank Astald for the basic layout of the e-mail, xnbomb for helping me understand the Pious Flea's speech patterns, and thebruce for the transcripts! If I get a response, I'll let you all know. If my name goes on the website - I expect you'll let me know!!

I have no problem at all with people using my e-mail, that's why I posted it instead of hoarding it for myself. The only thing is, I as well as others I'm sure, have posted something along those lines. I certainly got no response, and I haven't heard from anyone who has. But my first e-mail "Creepy", received an error reply because it was done wrong. But he sent that because he must have checked all e-mails titled "Creepy". The fact that I didn't receive a reply e-mail, even if it is wrong, leads me to believe that either we aren't supposed to do this yet, there actually won't be anything done about until Tuesday, or the subject of the e-mail is wrong. I am giving some thought as to resending my "Crewmember.." messages with a new subject, because it might be important to get those to Durga before Tuesday when there are new .wavs. But I hope your letter works Malrog, and I am not trying to take all the credit by attempting again, I am just trying to help out however I can.

That's cool. I couldn't find anywhere which said what had and hadn't been tried. Has anyone sent the above e-mail with the PF's version number as the subject (cos that was the other possibility that occurred to me). Would it be worth my while doing that as well?

I would certainly give it a try. Something like:
SPDR-5.14.77
vnum SPDR-5.14.77
or Malrog vnum > SPDR-5.14.77
or maybe just 5.14.77

I went with SPDR-5.14.77, though 5.14.77 might be equally good (if not better). My thinking for this is that SP could be saying "Crewmember, what is your version number" to the PF, hence, the answer to that would be the subject. And from the computer code on the website, the vnum is just SPDR-5.14.77 (the PF says this in response to Melissa's challenge of "!verify vnum")

- Malrog hopes Melissa ignores all the e-mails that aren't filtered by the Flea, cos otherwise she'll know that the Flea is passing info to Durga!

Edit: Delayed w00t, 150th post! Shame I was so slow off the mark, but looks like I was on the right track, eventually. Congrats to those who got their names up in lights.

Well, according to recipe3.html Katy W, Susan A, and Zemat unlocked those files. Good work guys! Guess 5.14.77 was the key.

Katy W here. She called me that because my email address is my name, not my handle.

I basically used Astald's email as a template and substituted 'Robynn' for 'Astald' (apparently as an exercise in futility) and my transcripts of the files where necessary. I also sent the full links to the files instead of just the name of the file.

The subject of my email was the magic 5.14.77 number. No SPDR, just the version number.

I sent it fairly early in the day too. Pretty much as soon as I had the transcripts finished.

(Edits: I keep remembering details to add.)

I used Astald mail too. But the subject I used was the exact phrase given by the SP. Instead of Flea fake version number, which I think was the correct subject line to use. But the wording used by SP was pretty confusing and I personally believe that <meta>the PM who wrote that made a fumble there and should have been more clear. I think they recognize that and</meta> that's why PF accepted my wrong subject line as good.

But I don't feel any better for it Embarassed

And this is bad why? Currently she doesn't believe in the Flea. She refuses to accept his existance. If she sees proof that he's working against her, she'll get on his case, possibly find and remove him, and will almost certainly notice that he's the entity who claimed to be a new SPDR. She may end up fixing herself and coming to her senses.
