^It hasn't been proved that it works that way. Frankly, not many viewer theories have been officially proven by the series.

Frankly, after a recent DW episode, methinks it's the other way around.

Back to the Masks

This is one of those simple things that is so obvious it seems as if it's been overlooked: the masks may not be the wearer's attempt to emulate the operator in a Renfield way. And they maybe worn for protection from it.

They might just be used to conceal the wearer's identity from Jay et al. Seriously. And the reason Tim was still wearing it in the hotel room? Jay had been telling everybody and anybody via YouTube updates that he didn't remember a damn thing in the seven month gap which means in his mind Tim's unmasking had never happened and Tim's mask still being an effective way to conceal his identity.*

I'm not trying to shoot down much more interesting theories; they make the masks scarier! But I would like to see a little more speculation on why Tim and this new mask hide themselves this way. They want to be seen and acknowledged yet they don't.

*Which could be why Tim got to the hotel room when he did: geting the tapes that revealed who he was away from Jay and Jessica was more important to him then the ark?

If you're trying to say that this has IG significance--while I would like to entertain that for intriguing purposes,I'm betting it's more a matter of being overlooked by Jay...but I could be wrong.....

Ok..well...Jay is pretty herp de derp if you list all the things he does that defy reason,logic,common sense,basic survival instincts,etc.
I guess having said that I need to maybe ask what your point is--like SPECIFICALLY,in mentioning this anomaly--like what do you believe the significance is in his posting that link as he did and it NOT being what he labeled it as?
As for ToTheArk not responding to this and it having meaning--I discount that because there are many entries TTA never responds to,so I don't necessarily see that as significant in and of itself.
I guess I'm asking you to detail your 'theories' regarding why you feel these things significant or noteworthy.

Well, i was originally just trying to point it out. Probably could have been posted in the MH Twitter post, but i just thought that it was noteworthy to get other peoples opinions. Besides, I was thinking that this sheds some light on the whole "Jay hasn't been in control of his account since Entry #x" Theory. I don't really believe in that theory, but it was (in my opinion) Worthy to show others, just in case this turns out to be something of interest later on Very Happy

I understand what you're saying.There are so many things in this series that one can question and scrutinize and it adds to the mystery,but sometimes for me it gets a bit overwhelming trying to discern what questions to ask and try to answer and what things are simply 'human error'.
Plus--Jay being Jay AND a supposedly unreliable narrarator--it's difficult sometimes to figure out what's what.I was reading an old thread yesterday and the whole TTA exchange with someone on a forum was posted (the one where s forum member asks TTA some questions and he actually answers.)I am referring to the part where he says Jay is unreliable and specifies one reason why is because he's human--thus--fallible.
There are many things I've been wondering lately and the other day I was re-watching entry 22 and was wondering anew where the blood came from that was in the Basement-O-Doom. Shocked

Hmmmm, yes All is true about those statements, I guess the moral here is take in what you want to believe. In all seriousness, unless we are given a fact, The operator could have had a tragic experience as a child and his head got switched with a jacket potato, we just cant tell.

But also in 22, i know this doesnt really belong here, but there are so many weird things not brought up, like the blood and 2:08, Alex says "It went back upstairs" I was like O.o What is "it?"

I definitely agree that this series gives a wide latitude for many belief perspectives because of the very nature of its uncertaintly and nebulousness.
I have always been intrigued/scared by that comment of Alex's,as well.In fact--I had never read the full,in-depth transcript that resides on the wiki until about a week or two ago and when I did--this entry became even MORE frightening and O_o to me.
Today is my birthday and I am hoping ToTheArk will respond cuz that'd be an awesome 'prezzie'. Cool

BTW-Got a good,hearty laugh after I looked up 'jacket potato' and realized it meant 'baked potato'.I am in the US and I'm guessing you live in Europe maybe.One of the vastly innumerable reasons I love these boards!!
