Oh...and it is exactly 92 creators who commune, not 75 Smile

well, Fallen, you have to remember that that number fluctuates a bit, so it'd prob'ly be better to just say something like "roughly 90 creators" or something similar :3

He makes a good point, though, what is considered secondary and what is considered primary? I'd be of the opinion that MyDarkJournal is not followed by enough people to be considered 'primary'...

But I'm also fairly sure that by 'secondary hub' he just means 'ones which I will think of as I go along', so don't worry. Very Happy

Thus fair I determined primary/secondary on the basis of subscriber count, most popular to the left and descending to the right. I'm also relegating defunct/abandoned series (such as Jonclubs, WesternHalo, things like that) to secondary. I may be changing the formula in later versions and perhaps series will move around as their popularity grows and outpaces others.

@Brochacho - Thanks, I'll tackle those the next time I go in editing. I suck at monitoring my own stuff, since it's just tough to find things in your own writing.

Barring getting called into work, there will be some edit time for the site tomorrow. Possibly an alpha build of the blog-hub for you to have a look at. Which reminds me...

@SolDL - As far as the blog hub goes... I'm thinking of the following tabs right now...

Verses - Interconnected blogs from the same author(s) that share a continuity. Examples would be "Seeking Truth/Mystic" and "Dreams in Darkness/MaleOrderMan/DejaVuDreamer" and other such combo blogs like that.

Core Theory - Explain the main elements of core theory and list the blogs involved. Will include a link to ORIGINAL White Elephants as soon as Andy over at Slenderbloggins puts it up.

Generation Tabs - The informative blogs like Slenderbloggins and Slendaria, as well as discussion on Slender Nation, has divided the blogosphere into "generations" based on thematic differences which reflect changes to the mythos over time. I like this system and hope to implement it to sort the blogs here. For example:

- Gen 1 - Just Another Fool, In My Head in My Mind, Lost Time...
- Gen 2 - The Tutorial, Icthyological, Something Awful, (Seeking Truth and DiD except they're in "verses")
- Gen 3 - Most of the Core Theory Stuff and blogs with connectivity focues
- Gen 4 - More modern blogs like London Librarian, O&T, Etctera

I can link the Slender Nation thread with the generations discussion if anyone is curious.

TL;DR - I'm working on it. I've got a plan. I need only time.

You might also want to have a tab for Slender Man ARGs, including EverymanHYBRID (I know it's in the Vlog area, but still) and DarkDreamChronicle (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32022) and others I'm sure.

Seconded.

Regardless of flash or "under construction" this is a really nice website for the Mythos imo. Its very well put together...I can't imagine the work involved for just one person to get this done, much less updated bi-weekly
Thank you for doing this.

While MyDarkJournal may not have a lot of outspoken (RE: opinionated) followers here on Unfiction, the series has more than enough subscribers and video views to be considered "primary" AND listed in the order than Banishedzaber has chosen. Like it or hate it, the statistics speak for themselves.

I've already used the Previews to induct a friend into the Mythos. This is a brilliant idea, and you should be proud.

Oh, I'm not particularly worried about it or anything, I haven't even looked at it for a while: It just genuinely surprised me that it'd be above Angel's Game, considering how much more discussion I've heard about that. If that's what the statistics say, then that's what they say. XD

After rereading how I responded, I wanted to apologize if it came off as snide or rude. I always get on here right after waking up and getting ready for work Confused The discussion thread activity ratio between those two series has also struck me as kind of odd...especially when compared to subscribers/views they each have accordingly. Enough to make you go hmn sometimes Laughing

Currently working on the site. Corrected the spelling mistakes BrochachoNacho pointed out (thanks a ton for that), added TV Tropes links to vlog hub for series where it applied, updated the latest tab, and currently working on implementing an alpha build blog hub. I'll link you in when it's up.

The other reason I'm making this post is a little request for some help if anyone's interested. I'll be honest, despite my best efforts, I'm not up to speed on all of these vlogs and certainly not all of the blogs. If you feel knowledgeable about any particular series and wouldn't mind, I would love it if some of you could help out with the story summaries. What I'm basically looking for are small, 1-2 paragraph blurbs about the vlog/blog that explain the premise and get people interested while being relatively spoiler-free. I can credit you on the site for writing the summary if you so wish.

Is this a right categorization for the vlogs?
Gen 1: MarbleHornets, EverymanHybrid, TribeTwelve, JonClubs113
Gen 2: Angel's Game, Outsideagents, DarkHarvest00
Gen 3: MyDarkJournal, MLAndersen0, TJAProjects

We've never really discussed categorizing the vlogs into generations. They're very different beasts from blogs, would be folly to try and throw them into the same categories. And since there are fewer of them, the need for a system of classification isn't as high.

But yes, speaking strictly chronologically, that would be a way to lay them out.

Anyway, I have completed the template for the blog hub. I think it turned out to be an elegant solution to the space issue.

http://www.wix.com/zelphest/slender-man-mythos#!__blog-hub/1st-generation

EDIT: Unforum broke my link, so remember to copy/paste it.

Clicking the arrows allows you to turn the pages of the book. Blogs can be assigned anywhere from a 2-page spread to half a page depending on their scope and relevance.

Let me know what you think of this layout.

I personally love that layout for the First Generation, at the very least: The fact that it looks pretty much like the JAF notebook is very cool. I feel that for subsequent generations though, there will need to be some sort of a jump tool so you do not literally need to flip from A to Z to find what you want.

At SolDL's suggestion, I've implemented a jump menu for each generation's notebook. However, the cost of this is that each blog get's 1 page. So no pictures where relevant. But I think it'll work. Also, I can put TONS OF PAGES in each notebook, so I seriously think this layout will work. Anyway, like I said before, I'm now accepting help with some of the content. Crowd sourcing and what not. So... if anyone's up for it...

WHAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW

I. VLOG SUMMARIES

If you're a follower of any of these vlogs, I would appreciate if you could write a 1-2 paragraph blurb that sums up the premise without spoiling things very much. Some of the series I honestly have not had time to watch and some I'm too close to the creators to be impartial on.

Story Summaries are needed for the Following Vlogs:

MLAndersen0
DarkHarvest
TJAProjects
compileTRUTH
Angel's Game
MyDarkJournal
jonclubs113
TheOutsideAgents
AppleOfOurEye
BeyondTheNeon
5zer02
photofugitive
004steps

In regards to vlogs currently not listed on the site, in order to prevent a massive flood of them, I'm only placing series on the site once they reach a certain size, namely more than 100 subs. I'm literally aware of a dozen of them with only 20-30 subs and I've gotta put some standards on this for the time being.

II. BLOG SUBMISSION

You can also now submit any blog you wish to be placed in the blog hub. To submit a blog, please provide the following.

Quote:
1. Blog Name
2. A quote from the blog to be featured.
3. Based on the generation criteria below, classify it in a generation and briefly explain why.
4. A brief, 1-paragraph summary of the premise without spoilers.
5. The blog's URL.
6. Any other URLs relevant to the story, such as Twitters, Youtube channels, etctera.
7. Link to the blog's unfiction thread, if it has one.

You will be credited on the site for recommending the blog and writing the summary.

As for the Generation Descriptions, here's the general idea.

Generation 1:
Quote:
The first generation was a phase of experimentation, during which elements of the original Something Awful thread and Marble Hornets were expanded upon. Generation 1's main story emphasis was on horror and featured no connection between stories.

Generation 2:
Quote:
The second generation represented a shift in mentality and story telling. The second generation introduced the idea of characters proactively fighting back against their tormentor, often producing minor antagonists to create more practical conflict. Generation 1's main story emphasis was on character driven narratives and included small amounts of connectivity with characters commenting on each others blogs to offer words of sympathy and encouragement.

Generation 3:
Quote:
The third generation of Slenderblogs is marked by the high period of connectivity between the blogs. This climate, which many regard as a side effect of the proliferation of Core Theory in late 2010, has received mixed reviews from the community, some arguing that the connectivity makes the narratives more difficult to navigate while others take issue with the concept of Core Theory itself and misunderstand that any blog with connectivity or crossovers is part of it.

Growing organically out of 2nd gen, Core theory was an extension of resisting against Slender Man. It emphasized the role of "proxies", humans under the slender man's influence who could be fought on even ground. Generation 3's main story emphasis was on cooperation and included large amounts of connectivity with characters commenting on each other's blogs not only as character development, but frequently with plot related conversations occurring within those comments.

Generation 4:
Quote:
Following backlash from the community over Core Theory, Generation 4 combined elements of Generations 2 and 3 to create the modern Slenderblog. While it maintained Gen 2's attitude of fighting back, it rejected the premise of core theory while maintaining Gen 3's spirit of cooperation. A subset of Gen 4 blogs featured a shared plot regarding "the cure". Generation 4 also features numerous bloggers attempting to research and experiment.

Generation 4's main emphasis is on organizations and research, with significant connectivity, however less so than Generation 3. Comments are again more about character development than plot, but with more frequent crossover episodes outside of the core theory crowd.
