The bottom half of mine has never lit. Would be nice to have a fully functional one, but I'm not unhappy.

Off the subject of the icefly drops (sorry!) ... the icefly itself. Magic, or technology? Technomancy? We've seen them help defy the laws of physics (levitating man in the advertisement someone linked from May; levitating icefly container in the other video) and it seems to me like extrasensory perception/ESP is a big deal here...

Lacking any puzzle to solve offhand, instead I'm trying to figure out what's going on in the story. I've just got a bunch of questions... What IS the icefly, a living thing or a machine? Were they artificially created, and if so, who made them?

Maybe this is my mistrust of scientific institutes in science fiction speaking, but it seems to me like the icefly is a very powerful thing and I'm not sure that the Traelek Institute/scientists are the right people to have access to such power. Are they evil scientists looking to utilize that power for control? Or am I just paranoid? Will they accidentally set off a change that begins to destroy humanity - hence the Human Preservation Project?

I'm on a roll here, but I might just be rolling off a cliff. Wink

All valid (and totally on-topic) theories Selie!

I speculated a bit as to the nature of the icefly last week or so. Like you, I wondered if it was a man-made creature or something we dug up, and whether or not the other iceflies that appear outside the Genesis video (hey, there's something to that name come to think of it!) are from the same place.

The ESP theory makes a lot of sense. The block of text on TSN did caution that test subjects' senses would behave/be utilized in a way with which we are likely unfamiliar. This could be the beginning of a very important but dangerous experiment.

I wouldn't worry about that cliff of yours. You might just find something totally awesome buried in the side of it. Laughing

So they texted me back. Looks like they're going to deliver the new icefly to my house. They said to box the original one so they could exchange them. I'm going to try to talk them into letting me keep both. If possible, maybe one of my Phoenix patrons can have the original.

I doubt they'll let you keep it.

You are correct. They exchanged the original with a new one. Finally lights up though!

Also, the agent was wearing a black Icefly shirt. I couldn't resist, so I asked him, "So.. What do you-"

He cut me off with a little, "I have no idea."

LA Ice Fly replaced!

charon the ferryman wrote:
This morning I received a text from the number used during the IceFly mission.

We have received word that your icefly was damaged mid-flight, so a replacement specimen has been prepped and is ready for transport. Please specify the appropriate time and location - a representative will be on hand to make the swap. The Human Preservation Project is moving forward.

Drop was arranged and I now have a working icefly. It lit up within a minute or two of plugging it in. I will report back on any unusual flashing...

So does this mean they have more Iceflys? For another drop possibly?

Possibly. Though I feel they had to ship the replacement, so maybe they simply produced a few extra. Not sure.

You know there had to be a few more for emergencies and for the 42E employees.

The color of the Icefly practically puts the flavour of mint into my mouth.

So...wait? Are they seriously using players as messengers? That seems...odd. If they are going to hire people to do drops/exchanges...that is one thing...but if they are getting players to do them, I kinda wonder what the players are getting in return (since the players become ineligible for the drops, I would assume).

A spiffy Icefly shirt I presume.

So do you think its worth texting the guys about my icefly? Two of the legs were broken off when I received it. At first the bottom didn't light up either but now it does.
