If I post the flier on a telephone pole or something, I can just take a picture of it and send it in? Or is it generally supposed to be reserved for people who do randomly see them. I guess it doesn't really matter.

I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I do not think i will end up doing it

anyways regarding this puzzle
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=20p7ygm&s=7

Also, we seem to have 30 or so of the total of 38 symbols , and missing about 6 letters, in the formspring they say some symbols are for words, but i think that is not correct, to my knowledge we "know" the meaning of only 20 of the symbols, and 9 or 10 are untranslated, of those I'm quite certain are some of the missing letters, specially those on the three strings of 11 letters, it would not make any sense to just put a word in the middle of those

i cannot remember if they say the numerals are included or not B/

Some words like "I" and "a" only have one letter. Some of 175,000 wise-assery?

finally

Okay. 5 hours of my life reading Formspring and this this forum. Finally I feel like I can post without being a bad person.

Have we completely abandoned the connection between the word "umbrella" and "Bella" and possibly even "Arabella" (as in the lawyer woman)?

This also probably means nothing, but Arabella is the name of a opera.

Also, I only found out about this today, and that is because Junko Junsui "liked" it on facebook. Which also probably means nothing.

I think we all saw the little "top down" on page GetInvolved.html ...
What do you think about the Top-down and Bottom-Up information processing Strategies.?

Top-down and bottom-up are strategies of information processing and knowledge ordering, mostly involving software, but also other humanistic and scientific theories (see systemics). In practice, they can be seen as a style of thinking and teaching. In many cases top-down is used as a synonym of analysis or decomposition, and bottom-up of synthesis.
A top-down approach (also known as step-wise design) is essentially the breaking down of a system to gain insight into its compositional sub-systems. In a top-down approach an overview of the system is formulated, specifying but not detailing any first-level subsystems. Each subsystem is then refined in yet greater detail, sometimes in many additional subsystem levels, until the entire specification is reduced to base elements. A top-down model is often specified with the assistance of "black boxes", these make it easier to manipulate. However, black boxes may fail to elucidate elementary mechanisms or be detailed enough to realistically validate the model.
A bottom-up approach is the piecing together of systems to give rise to grander systems, thus making the original systems sub-systems of the emergent system. In a bottom-up approach the individual base elements of the system are first specified in great detail. These elements are then linked together to form larger subsystems, which then in turn are linked, sometimes in many levels, until a complete top-level system is formed. This strategy often resembles a "seed" model, whereby the beginnings are small but eventually grow in complexity and completeness. However, "organic strategies" may result in a tangle of elements and subsystems, developed in isolation and subject to local optimization as opposed to meeting a global purpose.

Of the sightings they have posted already, some appear to be taken when they were hung, while the last three which are named after stars are missing tabs off the bottom.

I don't think they care who took the pictures. You should send yours in and see if they are posting all of the pictures they get, how long it takes...

Also I thought 175,000 was male because he refers to women as bitches in one of the earlier questions.
http://www.formspring.me/8X3X11/q/211326890227556954

While women can and do refer to other women as bitches, I think that if 175,000 were female, the response would have been different.

Decoding suggestions.
Decoding suggestions.

First and foremost, this is a game, and, until a reason to react otherwise is given, it should be treated as such. However, what a fun game it is. I've read all the threads, and the hundreds of questions on forumsprings. I apologize to everyone whose idea's I'm using without citing you specifically. I simply don't have the time. For the last few hours, I've been focusing on decoding what I have been given. Why? Because everything about this is coded in one way or the other. 18,000 is referenced as a coder. But you know all this already. The pieces of the code I've found can be viewed here: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=20p7ygm&s=7 Here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/files/view6progressstc_code_1.pdf
And here: http://8-3-11.info/TopDown.png (I say I found, but really other people found these pages. Thanks for the work.)

Premises: 38 symbols translate into the 26 letters of the english alphabet. I would say this task is impossible, but in the second picture, you'll notice boxes by the coded letters. You'll also notice its a 1/1 ratio of symbols to boxes (assuming the boxes weren't added by someone else after the fact). This supports our first premise, almost like we are playing a game of hangman. (This goes against the claim that any symbol represents a whole word.) However, I'm not sure if I've seen all 38 symbols. (Time issue, work early) If a symbol does represent an entire word, you can expect it to be a very common word, probably not a noun or an adjective, adverb (assuming it was would be too daunting, too many possibilities). Instead, you should probably proceed assuming that a symbol that represents a word most likely represents a conjunction or article. (And, but, or, the). (also note that A and I can both be a letter and a word and the claim that symbols represents whole words could then be a simple ruse.) Also, you'll notice that many of the symbols resemble english letters. While I think the coder is having too much fun to make it that easy, that brings me to what I think is most important. That is, the third picture, the one of the english alphabet written on a grid. At first glance, you'll notice all the letters are four blocks high and two deep. You should also note that every horizontal line in the alphabet that is not on the top or bottom of the letters (with the exception of the letter A) is written off the grid lines. See letters E,F,H, and G. The handwriting does appear to be the same in all three pictures. At this point, I'm thinking that the coder used the english letters on the grid to form his symbols somehow. I'm not sure how, and I will look at it more, but I wanted to put these ideas out there for people that are sharper than I am. Or at least quicker. We only have a few weeks left. I'll update this as much as I can, for what its worth. Happy hunting.

More info on the code.

Seems like someone beat me to it, at least partially. There are still untranslated symbols. Heres the link: http://terriblygoodstuff.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Can someone please explain how they think 175,000 is a female? People all of a sudden starting calling the person a she out of the blue, and nobody has answered why they think that.

For me, it's something about the writing style.

Okay, maybe it sounds stupid — and yes, they are saying it's NOT a viral campaign, but did you recognize how many people on Twitter who're discussing about it are 'litte monsters' (Gaga's fans are called like that)?

Gaga's still planning to release a new video coming in the next 3-4 weeks. A song that is rumoured to be released is called 'Bloody Mary' ...

Wasn't there a picture saying something from stones? —> Part of 'Bloody Mary' lyrics: 'I'm ready for their stones' ... And Gaga's is still stoned in the music video of 'Judas' as Mary Magdalene (and she's still Mary Magdalene in 'Bloody Mary') ...

And she said about the song 'Bloody Mary is quite subtle actually, it's a song about Mary being divine and human at the same time, with a subtext (maybe it's not even a subtext) about the role of a woman who is supposed to be a superstar and a real woman at the same time.' —> Two halfs of Belle.

Gaga even says about the song: 'It is about living halfway between fantasy and reality'. The whole story seems to me a bit halfway between fantasy and reality. More about it: http://ladygaga.wikia.com/wiki/Bloody_Mary_(song)

Okay forget it, just some sh*t in my head haha : /

Maybe we're getting blind somehow in cause of so many hints? ...

Is it only me, or is the photo of this girl constructed from two photos?

I still have a feeling, the left and right parts of her face are from different pictures... Perhaps I'm wrong though...

I don't think the picture is made up of two parts, look at the eyes, they both have the same reflection, unless its photoshopped like that, and I think I read somewhere something about the picture being photoshopped.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Been lurking from the beginning of this thread, but haven't found anything post-worthy until now. Maybe the questions they aren't answering can tell us more than what they are answering. I've asked these questions with no reply:

1) 2 faces = 2 names? (based on someone's post here at UF that the pic looks like 2 girls edited together...I agree...and that 2 names had been used)
2) Something about they said they are "8-3-11" and also said "aren't we all" to being humans...so what does that make them?
3) What do helpers do?

I think there were a couple other questions I asked, but I can't remember them now.

Also, whoever knows German, what does this post/reply mean:

"Ist das Mädchen wichtig? Ich möchte gern ein Associate zu sein."
"Es tut mir leid, aber wir sind nicht mehr zu akzeptieren Mitarbeiter."

Thnx in advance!

to the 2 faces thing, on 4chan someone tried editing it and split the faces then mirrored it to become seperate girls. The left half appears to be a younger girl and the right half an older girl [if 2 faces is the case].

the german post translated:
"The girl is important? I would like to be an associate. "
"I'm sorry, but we can no longer accept people."

Some random information [sorry if previously mentioned/dont know if useful] the girls voice on the main page is saying "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" which is spelling alphabet for YHF

Edit: in regards to the 2 faces: the 4chan link turned into a 404 and 4chan is currently down [for me at least] but once its up ill try and find it to show you

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is the name of an album released in 2002 by a band called Wilco, i don't know if this means anything, but i heard that in the audio file and googled it, that was the first thing to come up.

haha I believe that this thread on the ATRL forum has the explanation for the uptick in lady gaga fan interest.

http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=134916

Someone there said that they tweeted their "bajillion" Lady Gaga fan followers about the site. I would find the exact post for you but I really don't want to sift through 26 pages of "I'm scared" again.

I think one of the most interesting things about this whole thing is watching how information is passed around.
