[OT] Virus???

I thought I would put this in here just to give a heads up.

I have a yahoo mail account and recieved a mail in in the bulk folder which had an attachment saying Denied. My first thought was that it was Melissa telling me my picture wasn't good enough. I opened it up and it said, "Caught this on the chatter" or something extremely similar. I scanned the attachment (which had a file name aunt.rtf.scr) and it was a virus. I just wanted to let everyone know to be on the lookout.

If this is in the wrong place and such I am sorry.

Jessi

[Edit] I feel a bit wicked today, so I thought I would add his/her email address loki94hSPLATyahoo.com [/Edit]

The worst thing here is that it's one of us that did this. It's somebody who's been watching the game. That's awful.

No, it isn't, fortunately. This sounds like the NETSKY.B worm, which uses "from the chatter" as one of the many random messages in the mass e-mails it sends -- with a spoofed "From:" line, by the way -- when propogating itself. Information can be found on various anti-virus sites, including Trend Micro, symantec, and McAfee. This worm has been around since March. The use of the word "chatter" does not imply any involvement on the part of any Beekeeper. Whew.
