Okay, I'm finally home so I must mention the epilectic tree that came to me on the subway earlier this evening:

Candles in Candleverse. Lots of candles in the hidden footage of Evan the boys can't see in "Ryan and the Seven Trials." In fact, I found the sheer amount of candles in the house at that time odd. Anyone else? It's probably nothing, but...

I can't believe I just realised this: Alex's sock puppet Sparky is probably a subconscious reflection of the Rake's...sock puppet Sparky. And it spurred an interesting idea in my mind. Stop me if I'm treading old ground here, but are you sure "HIS LOSS BLINDS HIM" is referring to Jeff? It fits Alex so much better...And rewatching . . . ., I noticed one clip which stuck out.

The one with Sparky on the stairs, and the Mother saying "Goodnight."

Perhaps the words imposed over . . . . aren't HABIT. They are Jeff. Note that they are put over a shot of Jeff lying there, clearly deep in thought. Let's imagine that these clips aren't actually videos, they are memories...or maybe not even memories, they are imaginary constructs designed to encapsulate what is going on in Jeff's life.

I still don't know where this idea is going, so I'll just give my rationale. It shows Evan and Damsel with the lights flickering; perhaps simply a portrayal of their mental instability, not an event which transpired. There's a lot of clips in there which just plain don't fit in with the story so far (Baghead, anyone?) so I'm wondering if they aren't meant to be taken at face value.

You'll notice that there is a sequence of four clips all involving travelling, perhaps these actually are memories. But these memories keep getting intruded on by shots of unrelated facts: there's a second long clip of Alex's attack by the Rake at about 0:35, then a shot of Jessa's necklace, then of the aforementioned Baghead, before going back into aDitL; the Well scene.

The Well scene has the clip from Damsel in the middle of it, perhaps indicating that it reminded him of her, somehow. Metaphoric? Well of despair? I don't know this is all just brainstorming.

And the HIS LOSS sequence. Right in the middle, there is a shot of Alex.

CHAOS would rather adequately explain Jeff's life at the moment. Continually he is making reference to wanting order, wanting things to go back to the way things were, normalcy, if I might borrow a rather fitting word from disgusting 1920's politics. And his brain patterns would clearly indicate that; in fact, if these videos are just, scenes from his subconscious...I feel it might be interesting.

I have a couple of epileptic trees I'd like to plant, but I really just wanted to get my reasoning out there first before I jumped off the deep end.

The first epileptic tree is: let's assume that this is the case, and the Hidden Videos are a product of Jeff's mind.

Let us look at -.-., and assume that Slender Man is the seen cameraman, or if not him, then some sort of denizen created by him.

Would this not suggest that Slender Man is also a product of Jeff's mind, made manifest? Perhaps he is the CHAOS in Jeff's mind, whilst Evan is driven by HABIT?

In the last vid, Candleverse Evan is wearing a black tee with a design and jean shorts or something.

In the kitchen in "Ryan," Evan's in a black tee and jeans. Maybe shorts, maybe not. I couldn't see clearly whether his shirt had a design. But they could always change clothes in that universe, I'm sure.

I just find it peculiar. Both pieces of footage are hidden. Both videos are "hidden" material interspersed with stuff that is definitely "our" EMH, footage the boys can't see. Both have an overtly feral Evan who slips in and out of HABIT mode. Both have lotsa candles. IDK. It hit me like a ton of bricks when I was in the city tonight - the candle thing - but it may be nothing at all.

That's the doom of having a well-thought-out/written-out story. It's really hard to figure out what is significant and what is just filler. Not that I'm complaining, but we'd be planting less trees if it wasn't so labyrinthesque in so many ways. /textual blowjob


In a side note: someone needs to either offer Habit whatever it is he's gunning for or he needs to accept one of the offers. It's a long night to be bored and have access to twitter.

I honestly thought the tweet was just a hint at what the winner of the trials would receive. It seems kind of pointless for him to have two things going at once.

That is an excellent idea. Too bad I'm not in the trials. On the other hand, doesn't HABIT also like to reward selfishness? Maybe someone should say something like "I'll videotape myself punching my sister in the face." Or something. Also wondering if sending some non-knifey pictures of myself would entice IT any, but I feel kind of wierd sending unsolicited photos to people.
