I too get the impression the Operator doesn't like being filmed, but I don't think it thinks in specific enough terms to want Alex to call Jessica about Amy. That sounds too human, and besides, the Operator doesn't need that done. It can very easily handle it on its own. I really do think that call was more of a last-ditch effort to keep her out of it.

Alex knows he's compromised. That's why he's wearing the chest cam. He doesn't trust his own judgment or memory anymore. If this was about getting them out of the investigation for Slendy's purposes, it would be just as easy, possibly easier, to call them up to hang out with him and then let Slendy do whatever thing he does that makes people crazy enough to be useless. Or kill them.

But I do think that if it was an attempt to protect people, it's the last one. Good Guy Alex probably isn't coming back.

I believe that what they're saying is that the 'trance' that we sometimes see in Marble Hornets is actually an after effect (residual effect or side effect) of having an encounter with the Operator, not something the Operator intentionally and specifically causes to happen.

Alright, which doesn't specifically address it "ending" when he arrives.

At what point do we see the 'trance' ending with the arrival of the Operator?

Well, he seemed pretty together as he was going to bed. Might have still been in the "trance". We don't really know if Jay coming home and flopping into bed was in a 'trance' or just messed up enough that he lost memory of it. Alex getting into bed just seems like a silly thing for a 'tranced' individual to do. Well, all that sitting around totally still was fun. Time to hit the sack.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Guess it could have been a technique like: Oh, hey he's snapped out of it and going to bed. Video is almost over, I guess all that buildup was for noth-*kidnapped by Operator*. It comes off as a little odd here if so.

I think my concern might just turn out to be how the scene was handled, rather than what it represents.

Also, Crazy Viking, that's what I was referencing too. I just meant I wasn't sure if somebody drew that particular image.

Also, if he was an operator, he wouldn't dial, but CONNECT someone to a dream, wouldn't he?

I see what you're saying here, but if we're going off the theory that the 'trance' is actually a state of mental shock and an after-effect of an encounter with the Operator, then there isn't really anything very odd about Alex's behaviour in Entry #44. People are perfectly capable of making phone calls and speaking with others even while in the 'dazed' state that prefaces actual psychological shock. From the great and powerful Wikipedia:

"The symptoms [of acute stress reaction] show great variation but typically include an initial state of "daze", with some constriction of the field of consciousness and narrowing of attention, inability to comprehend stimuli, and disorientation. This state may be quickly followed by either further withdrawal from the surrounding situation (to the extent of a dissociative stupor), or by agitation and overactivity, anxiety, impaired judgement, confusion, detachment, and depression."

Selndy at 3:24 >.<

OK serious time now:
No one seems to have mentioned this, and it's not anything huge, but right before the huge shadow passes over Alex, you can see minor movement in the top-right corner

My initial thought was that Alex was lying to J about the whole Amy thing and only called Jessica to make it look like he was looking for Amy. Then I realized that J didn't even know Jessica existed until Alex called her. So probably not.

He can't be trusted, that Alex. I was against that theory before now, but now I'm with it entirely.

Those drawings... seem to summon the Operator. This combined with #43, I have no doubt that Alex is a slendy-slave.

What was that shadow that moved over Alex? It definitely was not the Operator, he appears later on.

I still want to know when or how Alex became a worker for the Operator.

...That's about all I have on this one. I'll be waiting for TTA.

Yeah, it's probably what's under the spoiler. Hey, at least we're talking.

Yeah, that was pretty much terrifying.

Im pulling out the Tiny Tim to attempt to ease myself into being able to turn off the lights and get to sleep.

This is the first one in a while that just made me completely paranoid. It didnt have the loud cracks of the last few entries. it was silent.

just. ugh. that freaks me out more than the jumpscares. goes back to the core of the first season. the incredible deep seeded paranoia.

Not reading the entire thread right now, so could anyone tell me what, if any, great deductions and discoveries or theories have been made after watching this entry?

I got the feeling it has some important information, but somehow.. something's still missing. I don't have this OH SHIT feeling that I would normally feel.

All in all:
1. Alex is either lying about getting in touch with Amy, or he did, and there is no evidence of it/evidence hasn't been found yet, but that's unlikely as it seems Jay made sure we knew that he's basically through the tapes and onto the harddrive by now.

2. Alex is coughing blood/Slendysickness?

3. The first shadow that passes over him - who is that? Somehow, I don't think it's long tall and faceless, since there seems to be no distortion and Alex is still there after the shadow passes. So... ? (TTA??! Maybe we'll see some TTA footage from Alex's room in the next answer.)

4. Alex's drawings had a different feeling to them than in the early entries. More like he was summoning. I wonder if we're supposed to know more about the Operator Symbol than we got so far. I'm guessing the question is only whether it protects or hides or something or whether it summons or "marks" you. Although the answer to that seems pretty obvious ..

At 1:51 you can get a good view at some other "Artworks".
I noticed that under the word "kill" there´s something drawn what looks like a figure pointing a gun at something.
This might be a clue that something is about to happen, and it won´t end well for somebody (If it didn´t already happen).

Can someone go through the distortion at the end of the video where the frame rolls up, and El Hombre is in the corner and do a frame-by-frame? I feel like there may be something there.

Mebbe.

I also think that though teleportation is inDEED cool, that it may just be a case of Alex getting up and zombie-walking out -- but that we don't SEE it because El Hombre Alto is doing his distortion-slendydance in the corner and makes the film all wonky -- meaning -- the film is rewritten with Slendy data, rather than the boring data of Alex wandering off.

I just went though frame by frame and there is nothing special, it just gets lighter. And we see the Operator in a new way. Not to mention his arms are 10x longer and his shadow looks creepier than him

From what I see in the video:
-Jessica knows the person (Alex I think by the voice)
-The symbol summons the operator rather than preventing him from coming.

This is pure speculation. But on the amy thing, i think she might've gotten hit by slendy too in terms of the mind control shit. Either that or slendy might be using her as a sort of bargaining chip.

Few minor things I noticed that can be unrelated to anything at all.

Do these look like headlights/bleeding eyes from recent TTA videos to anyone else? They appear between 0:15 - 0:21, although they tend to be only lit one by one and rarely light up together.

And from the scene where Alex coughs out blood: why is that section of the scene blurred out? That censor-like blur appears throughout the cut between 1:10 - 1:34.
