I don't feel TOO bad about it, but it was definitely a "duh" moment. Wink

If I could have left work later (so that I had the proper information), I would have brought my labcoat and safety glasses with me--I work in a microbiology lab! That would have been PERFECT. Oh well...

Darn! You beat me by ONE! I knew I shoulda gotten that old lady coming out of the bathrooms...

I know how you feel. I managed a shot of 13 (bribed students w/ sugary goods) but it seems that I submitted into the queue a little too late, as I got no response email <shrugs> oh well, better that than wake up today, see that we fell short & kick myself. Plus, now I have leftovers! If any fellow beekeepers are visiting Fargo today (for, ummm the Autumn Wind Festival? or something?) stop by & I'll share the spoils.

Seriously though, to everyone who tried to submit a pic, no matter how great or few the numbers, thank you for your help.

I don't even know if my two sets of pictures, or anything were recieved. I sent yesterday about 10:00 am PDT, and I never recieved a response Sad

Hopefully I will eventually get some response.

The same thing happened to me as well. We might not get a written response, but could still be included as crew. Only time will tell I suppose.

last night

i sent these last night at 11:30pm EDT in an attempt to get a working knoxville axon. i also figured i'd try to be a crew member (even though i haven't answered any phones yet), and claimed that we were chief science officer 1st class and chief petty officer 3rd class in the email. i included the gps coordinates of the phone in the email, but you can see that they, along with my supposed rank, are also in one of the pictures. however, i never received a response... sucks. i really hope the phone gets added.

In case anyone missed this in the other thread, I hope y'all don't mind if I repost this here.

Excellent work, soldier.
Your research skills are most valuable.
Please be advised that while your private axon has been verified, and
therefore I will accept it, unverified crew members must submit from
public axons.
Good work. I knew you would not disappoint me.

I couldn't make it to any pay phone axons today because of a work obligation. Embarassed I was able to put a picture together and send it in though.

I have never before been offered a padawan. I am very flattered.

You have a good start -- most Americans have only Romance languages or German. I would generally suggest studying at least one non-Indo-European language, but with the Japanese you've got that already. Another one wouldn't hurt -- and if you ever need a job, the State Department is desperate for people who can speak Arabic or Chinese. Also, the Latin is vital considering how many languages it either birthed or infiltrated.

If you're not out of college yet, stock up on linguistics courses. Studying the science of linguistics helps you to quickly see patterns and structure that just studying multiple languages won't teach you to see. If you're out of college, it will require a little more discipline, but studying linguistics on your own is easier than learning a language by yourself.

Next, having studied linguistics, I would suggest studying as many languages as you can fit in -- not learning them, but studying the way they're constructed and how they're both similar and different to other languages in the same family, and to languages with different features. If you do decide to acquire more languages, incidentally, you'll find having studied linguistics a great help.

Also, if your university or other institution of learning offers a course in codebreaking, I'd suggest availing yourself of that instruction. Most don't, however, but again, it's probably something that you can learn on your own without too much difficulty. I prefer learning in an interactive environment, but certain subjects lend themselves rather well to solo study, and this, I think, would be one of them.

Hope that helps.
