I'm guessing (as many others have guessed) that this is a diagram for an interactive art installation that is meant to fool onlookers into believing that a parson is really buried up to the chest, wrapped up and prepared for stoning. Strings would be attached through buried tubes to create movement and a sound device in the mannequin's head to provide a voice. The first diagram implies that the mannequin's movement would be triggered by picking up stones from a container. Really, I can't imagine that this design would be all that effective, since it would be clear to anyone who picked up a stone that a string was attached.

More and more, this appears to be not an ARG, but the build-up to and viral advertising (however not-for-profit) for an interactive art installation, which the organizers will perhaps have others reproduce, based on these designs in different parts of the world. How this ties in specifically to the story of an 83 year old woman named Belle, though, remains to be revealed. So far, no decoded messages have led to any thing meaningful. Unless the misspelled word "convertable" is supposed to count as a major reveal. It's clarified their alphabet a bit, and therefore provided clues for their plans, but knowing more hints about this art installation doesn't really give us much more to do that speculate and wait: not much of a game.

I'll be wrong if the bottom line of that second coded message ever amounts to anything.

questions

Do we know for a fact that the View6ProgressSTC.png was actually hosted on the 8-3-11 site? It is attached here and has been available elsewhere, but I never actually saw it on the site itself.
Now that this file is definitely not on the site does this mean its use in the language cipher is now irrelevant or will new 'players' just have to use other places outside the site (like here) to catch up?
This seems to go against their original statements that everything is already available on the site. I put in a question on Formspring about this (as I am sure thousands of others have).

I still have no idea how the our alphabet letters were found from the symbols in the png file. Is it possible to just use the new View7ProgressSTC.png to start from nothing and do the same thing? I'm clueless about this part of it....

View6ProgressSTC.png definitely used to be hosted on the site. As far as their claims that everything essential is hosted, they're definitely contradicting themselves. For instance, if the second coded message is legit and part of the puzzle, new "players" might be lost because it was never hosted on the site. It was leaked by an anonymous user on this forum, and maybe other forums, and then someone asked about it on their Formspring. Not sure if it's still linked on the Formspring. I don't know how that's consistent with their claim that everything was already hosted.

In this thread, nobody ever brought up such an assumption. So who are those "many other" people who also guessed that?

Yes, it was hosted on the site. If you came here a few days earlier you would have been able to see it for yourself.

You're right Boone this isn't much of a game. They are contradicting themselves on the Formspring account as well. http://www.formspring.me/8X3X11/q/216424886761973104 She/he had said earlier that they aren't answering some of the questions because they would be giving out too much info.
They seem to be answering the same questions over and over again. This is my first ARG and I'm starting to get a little bored with trying to figure and refigure what they've put out there. It just doesn't seem coherent to me but maybe that's because I've never played this sort of "game" before.

Do you even have a decent grasp what the question in combination with the answer actually meant? He was asking if the questions, which haven't been answered, are the right questions, which they are not allowed to answer.

175,000 then answered "No.", which means that not all of the unanswered questions are the right questions, but that there are also other questions, such as those that haven't been answered, because they have a.) nothing to do with the topic, b.) already been answered or c.) *insert a possibility here*. There is no condratiction there at all.

If that's your only example (that is wrong anyway) of them contradicting themselves, then I'd suggest you to try harder.

Edit: Fixed a typo.

Way to make a newbie feel welcome! But you are right. Doesn't change my opinion that I feel like we're chasing our tails though.

I'm sorry if I made it sound too harsh, I didn't want to insult you.

Err, I registered here yesterday, you did so 4 days ago, so am I not actually the newbie here? Razz

So I just checked, and it looks like the second coded message is no longer linked to their Formspring, so either it's irrelevant, or they're definitely contradicting themselves.

No problem! I've only been registered for a few days and this ARG stuff is absolutely fascinating to me! I'm hooked.

yes, Arion, I had gone back to that same page again, since it was the first one where I saw the text was translated, but later posts referred to runic alphabets (admittedly I didn't go to the wikipedia page first time around) and after that I saw the images of a substitution grid, but the text that accompanied it said that it was just based off the first translation text.

After that it just seemed to all reference that. I was just hoping the whole thing didn't start off as a lucky set of guesses.

Haha, I completely agree with you, the same applies to me! I've been up at night for several hours in order to read through this thread and various other sites to get as much information as possible. This stuff is just so interesting. I'm happy that I could somewhat help here by translating some of the german audio files, but as of now, nobody seems to have any use for it.

I know that one image I still haven't seen yet (but seen things referring to it) is the one where they said "home" was misspelled. anyone have that to share?

Do you mean this one (it appeared here for the first time)?

I'm honestly not sure. I have that one, but there are references to some file that was more or less accurate but "home" was misspelled.

maybe I'm just confusing myself.
