Full repair: webhold.gif (webhold.qnc)

Ok, it IS a GIF file. The problem is that they had it there as a plain text document, and null's mess text up bad. So, all the nulls (0x00) were replaced with spaces (0x20). When you replace them all, you get a sort of usable picture. I say sort of, because there were some legitimate spaces (0x20) in the picture, and they are now nulls so it is distorting.

This is a similar picture to the logo.gif on the main page. It is not the same. There are several places where there are significant differences. Attached is the partial repair along with the logo. I will complete the repair when I get a chance.

Or, ok, I won't post the repair. SpaceBass, enable attachments on this forum! Then I'll post it.

You can post the image if you uploaded it somewhere on the web, then posted the image link...

Yeah, I'll do that if he can't enable attachments before tonight, but I am at work right now so don't have access to my webspace.

Ok, after further editing, they do indeed appear to be the same file. My compares were off because there were several 00's close to each other, which made it look like a larger replace then it was. The only difference that I am left with is two extra bytes at the end of the file (0x0A0A). Those are new line characters. Many text editors will automatically append them to a text file. I believe that when they replaced all the 0x00's with 0x20's, their program just added those two extra bytes.

Nevertheless, the fully repaired copy, new lines and all, is attached.

Excellent job!

Have you checked to see if this image is stegged? Otherwise this was just another exercise in the chasing of the wild goose.

Well, it's a GIF so it doesn't work with things like stegdetect, and I don't have any steg software here that uses GIFs at work. If anyone wants to give it a shot, go for it.
