Has anyone tried perhaps putting all the prepositions on a crossword-puzzle-like grid? And try to link them with each other based on relative location to the words sounds like? "Through" would probably be the one to start with. Just another stab in the dark...

Because of the fact that the list seems random, I tried:

random_proposition(s)
random_position(s)

Both of which were 404'd!

Just as a point of reference, I tried doing "pen strokes" with the prepositions (simulating a conductors wand for the "sounds like" tie-in)

It looked promising at first, but fell apart right about here:

BETWEEN
AMONG
TOWARD
THROUGH
ALONG
OUTSIDE

Anyone thought of a possible connection with "parabolic Lemonade Failure"? It's been bugging me since I heard the wav yesterday, but I have no clue where to go with it.

Man, I had SUCH high hopes for "play_swords.wav" (SOUNDS LIKE "place words"), but sadly no. This is really driving me crazy!

prepositions

in the 5th grade, prepositions were defined to me as being: Anywhere a cat can go. Like, the cat can be INSIDE a bag, ON a bag, AROUND a bag ..

this has nothing to do with bees Smile except to observe how a preposition works.

so last night i was trying all sorts of things which rhyme with or sound a little like "preposition". "in_position" "disposition" .. a myriad combinations. I think i need to build a little script which will attempt a variety of combinations of words which fForm vaguely similar phonics.

I think we have gotten too caught up on using the word "proposition" there are other words that sound similar to preposition such as "preperation" which contains similar wording

hi. sorry for not reading all 43 pages Neutral but is "aside" a preposition? the dictionary says it's an adverb or a noun. not preposition though. I also looked at about 20 preposition lists and every other preposition from the puzzle was in em except for "aside." so... I hope this means something.

also... is there a page that explains how these puzzles are even found? like where did this preposition list even come from?

Not reading all 43 pages is no excuse! Bring on the trouting.....OF DOOM!

A few pages back someone came up with a resource that did list aside as a preposition, but it is not a common one.

prep.

Has anyone tried using the word "mission" in the decyphering yet? It's kind of a spy term so maybe someone could use it.

Okay, I'm trying another tactic here. This puzzle must lead to the wavfile that comes right before little_brave.wav. Here is the opening dialogue from that file:

Quote:
Rani: Well this is my day, and I don't know! Ugh. I'm thinkin' I might quit and go home. But I'm afraid y'all won't let me.
Herzog: You're gonna have to be a little brave, Rani. I'm sorry about that, but the times don't give us many choices these days. There's a young man up on an orbital platform tonight --

Now it is a stretch to hope that the critical phrase will come toward the end of the file (although often it does) but Herzog must have asked Rani something that allows her to respond: "Well this is my day, and I don't know." To me, that seems like they are talking about choices and whether or not she can decide what to do (continue in the job or not).

So that suggests some possible phrase pieces:
decision (sounds like preposition)
decide (sounds like aside; if indeed that was intended to be the 'oddball' word in the list)
analyst (okay so I still like that one, but it does relate to her job)

anything else?

Dante, I've been following a similar tactic in my word guessing patterns, but no luck as yet. I've also just tried to think about what Rani and Herzog might discuss in that conversation that could be related... lacking a proper solution to the puzzle, it still might get us the .wav file.

I haven't noticed anything on phonemes in this puzzle discussion, though I might have missed it. I tried a few attempts using "phoneme", but didn't come up with anything. It may be just a coincidence.

letters for numbers, not digits

If the answer does have any numbers in it, keep in mind that previous wav clips have had numbers spelled out in letters, not digits. for example one_point_one.wav as opposed to 1_point_1.wav.

Of course, if it's a rhyme/sounds like of 41, then we won't be writing out forty_one or forty-one, but something that sounds like 41. Anyway, keep that in mind.
