Second. Definitely a photo that has been scribbled over. Looks like a set of computer monitors. The second screen to the left looks similar to a map of something. Not U.S.; possibly Antarctica.

Maybe the Peninsula in Russia?

Gnarsea

While chatting in the wikibruce, Enigma2All did come up with Gnarsea might be like Narcia

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Narcia

We were thinking of anagrams, etc. for the last name Gnarsea...

Edit: Sorry for doublepost! Same time, same place! Wink

Looking at the tape and the body of the icefly as if they were morse code, "-- . --" spells out "MEM".

Doesn't go anywhere though.

Taymyr Peninsula
There is a real crater there...

There's a real crater in the Taymyr Peninsula called the Chukcha or Chykcha impact crater

The Chukcha/Chykcha impact crate

http://www.passc.net/EarthImpactDatabase/chukcha.html

we have the coordinates there, and I generated this map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=75%C2%BA42'N+97%C2%BA48'E&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=75.70343,97.842865&spn=0.213985,1.172791&sll=75.7,97.8&sspn=0.053509,0.293198&t=h&z=10

the map may be near the spot in the story because there's a river to the right named Taymyra.

What I could put together on this so far is that the "legs" of the fly in /conduit form a pentagon. Also the "fine" lines ("fine details that linger in the aftermath) on the image in /aftermath somehow correspond to lines of the fly in /conduit if you rotate the fly a little to the right; the black dot on the crater image would correspond to the "V" cut at the top of the /conduit page.

I've tried to use the coordinates on a new traelekinstitute link, with no success.

I insisted on the pentagon because it appeared in the center of that dotted image after the countdown, with the number 5 in it, and it was the first thing that caught my attenton when I saw /conduit for the first time.

dunno if this will be of any help, though...

Something have noticed with these ARG puzzles is they tend to be pretty linear. They give us stuff when we need it and it's rarely buried so deep it's silly.

That said I took all of the first letters from all of the Traelek pages to see if it was an anagram since they seem fond of that gambit but to no avail.

Tho it does seem odd those pages just exist for the sake of existing. I want there to be more to it but... There may not be.

It's there for a reason. It's reason just may not be ready to be used yet though. No sense in not looking, though.

So what do we do now. Do we wait? or do we investigate more than we ever have?

Maybe?

Maybe I've just gone crazy, or I am seeing things, but I couldnt stop looking at the conduit picture and thinking that there was something wrong with it. So I cut it by eight, and flipped a couple pieces. I put them back together in orders that seemed to fit perfectly mostly. I havent "edited" these pics in any other way than by using pieces as a puzzle. I think that the top one sort of resembles the jefferson memorial, i cant tell what the second one looks like, and the bottom one to me, almost looks like the iwo jima memorial from a strange angle, or at least a person crouching from behind. feel free to tell me I'm wrong, but I SEE things in this and it cant be THAT coincedental.

I don't think it is a puzzle. You can see a row of old, yellowed tape holding the middle together, but that's because it's wearing through where it's been folded and unfolded. In Footbutt's (I think) image, you can see it's been folded into eighths, but not really cut or otherwise assembled. I think it's the back of a piece of paper or letter. It's interesting that the blue "paint" goes over the tape and doesn't crease like the paper, meaning it's a recent addition.

is there a program that can remove the blue? and also copy after removed and refill the copy of the removed blue with where the icefly was
